  • Well the audio seems to be in sync on the actual file, and the audio was there the entire length of the capture even though I lost it in the preview.

Doing another test from 1080i59.94 > AppleTV

  • Yup still seeing video glitches. Audio seems to be out of sync on the preview, but will be checking the actual file here in a second.

This is with the latest software I know of, 2.4 Media Express; not sure how to check the Black Magic video drivers.

Interestingly as I was writing this, I completely lost audio preview while capturing.

Looks like they have a few bugs to squash.

  • Just received one for demo today;

Have noticed video glitches and loss of A/V sync at 1080i59.94 playback from IoHD Edit system.

Also noticed some audio glitches after a 10min test; but so far that has happend only once.

Media Express is using 180% processor (which is almost the whole machine) of a 17″ MacBook Pro (pre thunderbolt); 3.06GHz Processors and 4GB RAM. The overhead is just crazy. Decode should use the GPU.

One other feature that should be doable is using the SDI input and the analog audio inputs; this would be a great improvement for live show applications; unless it already does this, but it does not look like it does from the menu structure in the Media Express app.

    Right now I am doing a test @ 20Mbps.

DT Labs Playback Pro. Mac OS based. You can run files from multiple computers synced up.

Just use a Barco ImagePro HD and be done with it.

We got some corrupted files by ejecting the drive without hitting the slot button to unmount it — it was a amateurish mistake of us to make by not reading the manual.

We were not using the KiPro as a back-up record, but rather a DVCAM off of the component output of the KiPro as a back up. We figured having tape backup while we were still evaluating the KiPros was a good idea.

Sometimes learning the hard way is the best way since you tend not to forget. I’m not too worried since we had a tape backup running. The material was just for archival purposes.

Yes we just found that info by RTFM. It is a bit of a bugger it is not on the quick guide, but live and learn. We had a tape backup since this is our second go with the KiPros (renting). We do plan on purchasing though, so all this learn the hard way is probably good in the long haul.

Thanks for the reply and not ripping me to shreds…which I deserve for not RTFM. All is good.

  • Yes if you get the lecture hall really dark you should be fine with that projector.

  • How big is the screen going to be; personally I do not feel that projector has enough light output (lumens) to get you the image you want.

Make sure the resolution of your laptop or computer output matches the projector; you will probably want 1920×1080 @ 60hz; for color I generally use the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 for projectors or switchers.

The only other factor to consider it making sure you have enough hard drive bandwidth to reliably play the ProRes movie back.

You may want to check into a program called “Playback Pro”.
