    Thanks,

I don’t have a Macbook Pro, but have a card reader ordered. Again, thanks for helping out a newbie to the Sony XDCAM.

Really, really weird…o.k, I found the i-Link disable/enable option in the menu, only problem is…mine is grayed out meaning I can’t enable i-Link. I finally was able to use the USB connection to capture my clips…still wish I could figure out why I can’t import with i-Link. Any other ideas? Thanks for all your help on this. Wish things were clearer. Sony’s manual leaves a lot to be desired.

    Dear Mark,

Thanks for your reply. I was strictly importing using the XDCAM Transfer method through FCP, hooked up to my computer through firewire. For some strange reason this plug-in is not seeing the clips I’ve got on my card. XDCAM Transfer says “no media”, so it is not seeing the card at all it sounds like. I’ve restarted, quit FCP a number of times and still no luck. I also checked to make sure I’ve got the correct system settings and that is correct to.
    Any other ideas?

Thanks. Tried it and still having the same problems. Do you know if Apple has a timebomb installed within their software to cause problems if it is never registered? This G-5 isn’t hooked up to the internet and I can’t register the software without moving my whole desktop machine into another part of the house. This nightmare occurs when my G-5 has been on for a few minutes. Could it be a RAM issue?

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Mel,

As you can imagine, this always happens at the worst possible time. Three quarters of the way through a project…almost finished, late at night and then…what in the heck is going on?

Everytime this happened it was when I was right around a Photoshop PSD in my sequence. I can’t be for sure on this, but I suspect it could be the problem. I’ve found myself inching along with my project…work awhile, burn a quick tape copy of what is done and saving the project file with a differnt name constantly. Once this starts happening it gets to the point that if I close the sequence it will not open. The message appears and I can’t get back to where I was before. Very frustrating.
I was also given a bunch of Powerpoint files from a third party…I’m going to see about those first thing this morning.

    Thanks again for your help.

I am storing my media files on separate firewire drives. Only the program file is on my system drive and that has been backed up.

Yes, I can open any of the files in question in QT or photoshop (stills).

So, I’m not going crazy yet…but I’m not holding my breathe.

I’ve also already run Techtool Pro and everything comes out fine…not major problems.

    Any other ideas?

    Markus
