I would make a large comp that would fit all of your text, then put that comp in a comp that is normal sized for your output. Position the layer on x so that you see the first word at the left of the screen and use the offset filter.

I don’t have BCC3 🙂 From what I saw from BCC4, it was quite a nice film motion effect. Have you tried it in BCC3 ??? Does it have the simulated 3:2 pulldown ???

Unfotunately Red doesn’t have a 3:2 pullodwn feature for output. What this means, is that even if you could get the plugin to work (not sure you could), you still couldn’t create a good film look.
Magic Bullet excels at taking 29,97 interlaced content and creating 24p material. The render engine of the host must then introduce 3:2 pulldown to bring the footage back to 29,97 frames. This procedure mimicks the effect seen on film. Magic Bullet does a really good job of de-interlacing and removing artifacts from footage and creating the film-look.
Now, all that said. Continuum 4 has a filter that is called deinterlace. This filter will deinterlace footage and let you turn it into 24p and simulate 3:2 pulldown. I have tried it and was quite impressed with the results. Also the render was extremely fast. It doesn’t have the look-suite that Magic Bullet has, but an experienced compositor, such as yourself, can mimick these looks quite easily with the tools in Red and BCC4. BCC4 has a lot of really cool filters, and if 24p is something that you would like to do in Red, then the BCC filters may be something you want to look at. The rest of the filters are also extremely cool. Some of the light filters are awesome.

You are fine with the version of Red you are running.
Installing AE 7 has nothing to do with Red3GL. Go ahead and install AE 7. Some people like to install Red as a plugin for AE, I do not like to work in this way, I find it confusing and hard to manage.
You do not need AE 7 if you have Red, but I like to use both. Both have things that they do better than the other software. I would suggest learning both, if you have them, why not.

I don’t use Premiere Pro, so I was not thinking about the chapters inside Premiere Pro. You are absolutely correct, my mistake. I was thinking about footage, lets say from my NLE, Avid Liquid. If I come out of Liquid with M2V files, then I have less flexibility since the footage is already transcoded.
Sorry for the confusion…I should give Premiere a look at, I do own it 🙂 (Bought the premium suite, loving the dynamic link)

Timothy’s method does work, but unfortunately you lose some flexibilty inside of Encore if the file is already transcoded…things like chapter point placement.
I would download the free windows media encoder…import the file into the encoder, re-encode and format to AVI (not uncompressed), then import that into Encore. The encoder is great…and free.

It is all in the way you place items in the timeline. Read the manual again and you will get it….guaranteed (I don’t have the manual in front of me to walk you through it)

Simon, If you downloaded Red, Then I assume that you downloaded the demo…The full retail box does indeed include the intelligent assistant.

That is fantastic, I wish you all the success you ever dreamed off. I know the long hours….read the art of sleep deprivation below. It is not easy to tell the kids that you can’t play because you have to edit a commercial, or do a DVD run. I try to do most of my work when they have gone to bed, but of course, that is not always possible.
I am impressed how you always manage to put your family first. One of the radio stations up here in montreal has a talk show hosted by a husband and wife. Every night their sign off is, “Remember to kiss your kids, because family is the only work that is worth it” I try to live by that, you seem to be able to do it.
