John, I am in the process, of testing trying to get everything working to do podcasts.
I have had to put it on the backburner for a weeks due to a large project…Once everything is working I am planning on doing some podcasts, and Boris is one of the products that I am looking at.
I haven’t tried this with Red4 yet 🙁 But with Red 3 it is quite easy.
Create your 3d text. Duplicte this layer. Add the snow filter to one of the text layers. In the controls window of the snow filter go to the interaction tab and select the accumulate on interaction track option.
Now in the timeline twirl down completely the snow track to reveal an interaction track, it will be set to V1. Twirl this track down, and close the eyeball ofr media (it is next to V1), now drag the duplicate of your 3d text onto the interaction track and voil
Try the new frame blending option in AE 7…. It is pixel based and should help with this. You need to click twice in the frame blend box to get the one I am talking about.

I usually use guides for aligning things. Make sure that in view rulers are set to on, then as you would do in Photoshop drag a guide out. Elements will snap to this guide.
1. Draw a spline on the layer (or a solid) using the pen tool.
2. Add the Stroke effect and select the mask layer as the spline you created.
3. Animate the start or end…..
4. If the stroke effect is on same layer as map select on original, if on solid layer, select on transparent (this is a small pulldown menu on bottom of filter).
