With the release of FCP X you can be sure that Adobe and Avid smell blood…Hopefully, Media 100 has its nose open.

Media 100 is not yet 64 bit. There is a class of transitions included that are real-time.

As Nick suggests, download the 14 day trial and try it for yourself. The recent price drop makes it a very good value. M100 It is solid, stable and professional. A Boris rep has already admitted that work is underway on Media 100 Suite v3 so now is a good time to jump in.

…and to help sell Media 100, a more dynamic web site is needed with much more information and tutorials. The one version 2 webinar that is there needs to be scraped or redone considering the audio issues and technical problems it has. This is not the face you want to present to the professional world…

A drop in the upgrade price wouldn’t hurt either, even if it is for a limited time.

Good to hear that the 3 Way Color Grade filter for RED is coming. Are improvements to RED’s handling of 3D objects coming as well? From what I can tell, BCC 7’s capacity in this area is superior to what RED offers, correct?

It would be beneficial if RED users would post which filters/plug-ins work and which don’t, based on expericence. There are certainly enough demo and try-before-you-buy versions out so that you don’t have to spend any money finding out.

From my experience, Tiffen DFX 2 (demo)does not work with RED 4.x. I can’t speak for the original version of DFX.

Aurorix, Beserk, Damage (demo) and Delirium from Digieffects work with RED 4.x with the following caveats: Several of the individual Beserk filters do not work (they crash RED)and some of the interface features of Delirium don’t work, like the presets, but all of the filters work, as far as I can tell. I’ve have just a little experience with the demo of the newest version of Delirium and that seems to work as well.

Thanks, Floh. I will just have to ask the guy to send a different format. Appreciate your help.

Hi Theo, Of course I caught the items you mentioned when Boris did the initial RED 5 press release in July of last year. Just looking for the other 17 or so.

Score, when used in a numerical context, means “20”, such as” 4 score and 7 years ago…” as famously used by U.S. President Abraham Lincoln in 1863 to reference 1776, the year of the Declaration of Independence.
