This is so unbelievable, but then again not for you Aindreas.
3D text is is the first non-pro specific dedicated feature (and I think it will see a lot of use in circles of working professionals) to appear in an update in YEARS. And you’re going to lay them out for it. How about:
Multiple video scopes (an incredibly verbose and customizable version at that)
Improved masking
Color and Shape qualifiers for ALL effects layers (this is huge)
Custom Effects Presets
Color Correction moved into the Effects stack
Improved Keyframing
Improved Optical Flow
Better FX Plug Performance
R3D performance enhancement
New Camera Format support and performance improvements
Library level smart collections
Waveform redraw performance enhancement
Overall performance and stabilityAnd that is a truncated version of the documented feature list. Not including undocumented improvements.
But, yup. Let’s forget everything else in this release and just focus on the thing you don’t like, and spin that out to posit your theory… AGAIN… that FCPX is bleeding a slow death.

Let’s remember these numbers are NOT OFFICIAL, and have been reverse engineered from a specific analytics company.
Also, these are US PRE-ORDERS only, so the number could be much, much higher.
As for the comments below about self indulgence… I’m fairly bored by people who take their personal priorities as gospel.
The Apple watch, like ANY technology product, is not for everyone. If it’s health, fitness, or quick messaging priorities aren’t for you- that’s fine. But calling them self-indulgent just seems petty.

Creating logical connection points with the primary storyline is something a lot of people neglect, and should solve most problems like this.
You’re positing a scenario where sfx are trailing into a scene or shot, but no part of that sound overlaps the previous shot it’s logically connected to? I’d love to see an example of this.

Alex4D discovered this and rooted out many of FCPX 10.1’s features before the software was released, because the version of FCPX in iMovie was a later build than the one that was currently shipping at the time (10.0.9).
Apple has since gotten wise, cause the gravy train of spoilers seems to have stopped.

Of course, these were the knee-jerk reactions to FCP X when it was first released (and still exist in some circles). But Final Cut and iMove remained 2 separate and distinct apps- regardless of any surface UI or functional similarities. So they could each develop on separate paths to cater to different user bases.
For now, Apple is presenting a single application that is supposed to meet the needs of two distinct markets. I always figured this would be a very hard concept to square. And for now at least it seems Photos is certainly more aimed at the consumer and hobbyist vs the working professional. Some of this stuff could certainly be reintegrated in future updates, but I think the concept of organization (where it seems Photos is most lacking vs Aperture) might be difficult to implement as a Extension or plug-in.
Or perhaps Apple does have an pro-oriented Aperture successor in the works, and it’s simply not ready yet. That’s impossible to say.
On the other hand, I remember a lot of flack about the lack of traditional “Bins” when FCPX was first released, before people realized just how powerful and flexible the metadata tagging and search tools could be. If these same concepts existed in Photos, wouldn’t it also be an equally, if not more powerful organizational tool than Aperture’s legacy sorting concepts? But it’s just that it’s so open and different that people don’t see how powerful it is?
This is a straight up question, because I have not clue about what Photos metadata tools are like.

They’ve seemingly been edging towards this for the last few updates. 10.1 obviously changed the whole architecture underlying media management- so it was likely smart to postpone any development on this front post 10.1. 10.1.2 expanded the depth and easy of exporting XMLs for Event and/or Project, as well as simplifying media storage location and media consolidation.
Really the only thing missing here is media trimming, with optional ProRes Transcoding on command.

More than two years? 10.1 was released in December 2013, JUST OVER a year ago.
