I can’t imagine it’s a codec or media issue. When no external display is connected everything plays back perfectly fine. I transcode all my footage to Prores 422. Running OSX 10.5.8, latest version of FCS and QT 7.6.6

My scratch is on a external Buffalo harddisk connected through USB2.0, haven’t had any issues with that configuration so far.

Good point, I never thought of it like that. I simply assumed that I would have to rotate the footage since it’s a vertical screen.

I am shooting a promotional video for a client which is supposed to be broadcast on a dedicated 16:9 vertical display.

I need to save as much time in post as possible as I will only have 2 days for complete post production hence it would be a great time saver if there was some way to rotate the footage at the same time it’s being transcoded to Prores.
