Well if all you wanted was to have the 4K monitor set as your live fullscreen preview at all times, why didn’t you just enable it as Mercury Transmit Video Device in Preferences->Playback?

Hi Antoine,
I have a similar problem with my triple monitor setup (Full HD – 4K – Full HD monitors) as shown below:As you can see, when I toggle full screen preview, the video is only about 2/3 of the monitor size. I’m pretty sure that Windows item scaling may have to do something with it, as I have it set to 150%. Premiere also has a huge problem with timeline zooming using scroll wheel on 4K monitors, but thats a different problem.
Anyway, since I couldn’t find any solution, maybe this workaround will help you:
I noticed when I alt+tab switch to any other application during my fullscreen preview, and then go back to premiere, the image magically becomes actually full screen size. The faster method to achieve this is just pressing the start button (if you’re on windows 10 like me), which “deactivates” premiere and sets the start menu as active window, and then pressing it again to make the menu disappear, which sets premiere as an active application again. It’s a pretty quick way to get what we want, as it’s just two taps more – the fullscreen toggle key, and then windows key twice.Let me know if the trick works for you! 🙂

However, I’m on Windows, so that’s a no-go for me. What I dont get is Jenny&Chris’ solution, I guess we will have to wait until they read this… -

Also, Piers if you need a quick and dirty solution for this, send your export queue to Media Encoder, and there use your DNxHD mov setting. It seems to do the job just fine, which shows the bug is only affecting AE exports. -
Guys, the original problem was related to Premiere Pro CS6, which didn’t have sorting option built in. In CC versions there is no such problem, as Alex described – there is multiple sort options. As for media browser the not-so-great workaround is switching to list view, and then on top of the column you can click on “NAME” to set ascending or descending sort.

Robert, thanks for sharing the thread from linkedin, but I still don’t see a specific solution there…

Thanks, I’ll give it a try, I have both CS6 and CC, and only tried it in CS6 so far.

I did exactly what you just said. Seems more like there an spelling error in the expression itsel? It says the function is undefined.
When I erase “sourceRectAtTime()” it doesn’t give me any errors, however the rectangle gets width and height of the main comp regardless of my text size.

I’m sorry, but I can’t get your expression to work. I created some text layer, which I named “my_text”, and underneath I placed a shape layer and applied your expressions. I get “Function thisComp.layer().sourceRectAtTime is undefined” error.

I know this is a very old thread, but I was trying to figure out the same thing for the last few days, and in case anyone else is wondering how to get it done, Motion Boutique has a free script called text box! Look it up, it works like a charm, but only if you have one line of text, or all your lines have the same width.
In my case I have a different sentence on every line and I need the box to be just the same as my text (with some padding). I don’t want to divide my lines into separate text, cause there’s too much of it.
I created a precomp with text sourced to the original one in the main comp, and then there is about 25 copies each with a different character offset setting. This fills out the lines with mulitiple letters (there are still some gaps tough). In my main comp I put these effects on my precomp (which I set to draft quality, to get straight edges of the filled lines):
Mosaic – trying to find a perfect setting to cut out rough edges and pointy characters
Curves – boosting alpha contrast, to get rid of semi transparent parts of edgesIt kinda works, but sometimes the letters like “J” and “y” stick out too much and mosaic effect sees them and creates a tile outside the text line, which ruins the effect…
Anyone has a better solution?
