The original digitize materials are p2 720p mats. I editted the mats, using final cut pro,and so far the quality didn’t pixelate, since I used a 1080i preset sequence. I then compressed it in apple compressor, via export>use compressor feature in final cut.

this time I use several preset settings, in compressor, 1080i’s preset and 720p preset.

I found that the 1080i60, in the compressor setting is the best one among the rest.

    Please correct me.

Steve Wargo- “Lowering your price shows that you don’t have confidence in yourself and that is a big red flag”.

Fortunately that applies true in most countries, lowering your rates does show your not confident in your skills.

I am not too sure it applies in our country(Philippines), the way we see it here, the cheaper or affordable you are, the more projects you will get. It doesn’t just apply to the freelance individuals, it also applies to the companies. They look for cheaper or affordable individuals and companies to do the projects, simply because they either cost the budget low so that they COULD get the project or client or agency itself gave a very minimal or even steep budget.

I did raised my rates one time during my freelance time. I had a difficult time, I couldn’t get project that could likely pay my bills, and I keep losing projects to individual who lowered their rates from the standard rate we have here.

After knowing that, I just have to adjust my rates according to their budget, I am not too sure if that is a wise thing to do, but it did got me a few projects by doing that.

to me it does actually, there concern was that the edges are jagged.they want to have that vector smoothness look. They did play the dvd in a mac mini player using a mac monitor( the one for the g4 model).

I have tried every single explaination I could come up with. Unfortunately they are just too stubborn to see it otherwise.

That is the problem I get with technical-savy clients who thinks they know it all. I just wish sometimes, the get on a day on my shoe once in while.

I did use toast as well, DVDSP and Compressor. I am not sure where it gone wrong but the quality is still pixelize. It may be the settings, I am not to sure. But in playing safe I did set in it defaults.

July 22, 2008 at 3:47 am in reply to: why clients come back – your list

There are many many clients have their reason why they do come back, so far here are the comments I do here from them, reasoning why they do come back.

    1. The people involved – Very knowledgeable and good in their expertise. Plus they are good-looking (hehe)

    2. The Facilities – They compliment about how stylish, comfy, well equipped and relaxing the facilities are.

    3. Budgets – Not making the client spend an Ungodly huge investment, to produce a well though work/

    4. The receptionist – this needs a special place in the list I mean hey, they are the beautiful looking front lines of our industries.

    5. Personality – I mean, even though the clients grind, we still do it with a smile.

I am proud of the work, especially i’ve gotten thru that experience with a smile.hehe.
however I couldn’t say it he was top notch I mean he just started been a film and video director for a year (as so he told). I to have seen better, easier directors to work with.

But I have to say, it could have been better, story wise. The problem from the start he should have focus more on the story, rather than art direction.

Like I said old habit die hard.

Thanks for the help once again. I just got one more follow-up question. What render codec, should I use, for an HD render??. Our machine uses blackmagic extreme, with a HD monitor for output??
