Hi, was having the same issue, where Nodes kept getting hidden behind the video preview window.
The solution, at least in 12.5 is to right click on the node field and choose the “cleanup node graph” which does the trick well. Alternatively, switch from arrow to hand mode which allows you to slide the entire node field around (so you don’t have to resize windows to get access to hidden nodes).
What I don’t understand is why the software doesn’t keep a perfectly clean node field that gets captured in a still frame can’t remain a perfectly clean node field when it gets applied. So it goes.

May 24, 2016 at 6:01 pm in reply to: Advice needed on 10gb Ethernet (or Thunderbolt?) for 4K in a small multi system enviromentWe’ve successfully upgraded to a 10gbe largely home baked 4k capable intranet with many thanks to Bob Zelin for his advice and some on site support from our dear friend and ex KSK’er Tommy Gonzalez!
Here’s where we netted out:
1) We wired all of the computers that are connected to our post workflow with Cat6a cabling, terminating near our main macpro trashcan edit station & our newly dedicated macpro tower server (a bit of a waste of 12 core horsepower but we plan to leverage its processing power for rendering going forward).
2) We installed an 8 port Netgear 10gbe switch (online reviews seemed to say it was noisy, its not or at least ours isn’t)
3) We added 10gbe connectivity to our mac edit & design stations either with Atto 10gbe ethernet cards where applicable or Sonnet Twin 10g Thunderbolt to ethernet adapters
4) We added Apple osX server to our newly dedicated server which is directly attached to our storage (see 6 below)
5) For reasons we couldn’t work out, we ended up needing to use an old airport extreme to serve as our Domain Name Server for this new intranet network (we thought osX server would have done it but it kept failing.)
6) For storage, we kept our existing 40tb (32tb usable), in house built RAID 5 storage system that features two 6gbs eSata port multipliers in the chasis and a Highpoint RocketRaid 644L (4 port 6gbs raid controller card)
7) We also assigned fixed IP’s to each system’s 10gbe ethernet connection using the DNS server
The day after it was setup, we had 3 editors and 1 motion graphics designer/animator, plus one support station working on a 29 video series 4k project. The only hiccup we’ve had during the 2 weeks its been up and running is that our brand new (and beefiest) iMac seems to choke a bit once in awhile and we haven’t had time to fully vet the problem. More on that later once we figure it out!
We tested each system with a LAN speed Test and we’re averaging read/write speeds of 1950 mbps/360 mbps respectively across the network on a 20mb packet test.
Total expense for new equipment and cabling (with installation): <$6k
I hope this helps anyone who’s thinking of tackling a similar upgrade.

I’m spec’ing out a system right now based on our conversation and looking into various options. Once I make my decision and implement it, I’ll add a follow up here as to how we made out!
Cheers and enjoy NAB. Jealous!!

April 1, 2015 at 3:21 pm in reply to: Need software advice for matching delivery specsSuper helpful thread but unfortunately the one thing that Justins specs didn’t include which the specs we received, for 10 different major markets in the US via Comcast, was requirement of embedded (not sidecar) closed captioning in the MPEG 2 file.
The specs for our 12 individual PSA’s also required encoding for both HD & SD – both in mpeg 2. The SD specs were slightly different of course but similar overall.
After trying Adobe Media Encoder (which won’t output closed captioning to mpg) and Episode Pro (which also wouldn’t output embedded closed captioning), as well as trying encoding.com and Amazons Elastic Encoder – both of which we failed to get successful results from, we finally decided to go to an outside vendor to run the final deliverables from ProRes HQ masters (seperate masters for HD & SD). The vendor, Sycro in NYC, used Telestream’s enteprise grade system, Vantage to do the job.
It just seems unreal to us that in 2015, formats that have been used by broadcasters for years are not included in Pro encoding software.
The final kicker was that when we received the encoded files back from the vendor, we could not check the closed captioning properly without having to purchase a player like Switch or Drastic Preview.
If anyone has any thoughts on the above, we’d love to hear them!

Hey Keith,
I’m here searching for answers to other multicam issues but overall, multicam in CC Premiere Pro is working for us (we just working out workflow after switching from FCP) other than the fact that we can’t easily add a .wav file to a multicam clip when we initially create it and can’t view the original source time code in the multicam window.
The process is a bit convoluted to set up the project than we would like but overall multicam is working on our mac pro system.
Wish I could be more helpful – I’ll be posting separately regarding my questions and the current work arounds we’re using.

May 9, 2013 at 4:10 pm in reply to: Better Export Workflow Needed for Client Review Presentations with TC burn inAfter installing the Nvdia Quadro 4000 our render time for the exporting the same sequence with the window burn added in the Premiere Pro timeline dropped from 56 minutes with our non-CUDA card to 4 minutes with the Quadro 4000 CUDA enabled card installed. What a relief.
Problem Solved! – Thanks guys!!
I’m sure we could have gone with a less expensive card and gotten decent results but time is definitely money in this business and we’re now back to a workflow that will meet client demands.
cheers!

May 9, 2013 at 2:19 pm in reply to: Better Export Workflow Needed for Client Review Presentations with TC burn inThanks for the insight Walter – we’re jumping out to pickup a Quadro 4000 to replace the ATI Radeon 5770 thats installed alongside a Nvidia Geforce GT 120 – this should do wonders for Davinci Resolve as well! Not sure how we ended up with two GUI level cards in our main machine…. but it should definitely make a difference having the CUDA enabled (and only one slot!) Quadro 4000.
Will post again later when we’ve installed the card and tested it out.

I bought 2 14.99 Roswell adapters from Newegg that works great with the 2 16gb transcend SDHC cards I bought. Gonna buy more for sure. Haven’t tried over/under cranking with them yet.

Thanks for posting, unfortunately the reader is no longer available on ebay anymore I’m sure I’ll find others out there.
I just bought an ex3 and am happy to say that I’m having great results with Transcend’s 16gb SDHC cards (class 6 I believe) and a really inexpensive Rosewill RC-610 express card adpater that cost 14.99 (less than MxR)at Newegg.com. The door completely closes with the cards inserted and I now have an additional 32gb of media for only $160. Fantastic. I haven’t tried overcrankinig with them yet but will do that this week.
