Premiere CC and Multicam Broken?
Posted by Keith Moreau on July 1, 2013 at 7:27 pmI was loading up my brand new PPro CC on a new project, tried to do multicam, there isn’t a separate Multicam window anymore, it’s incorporated into the sequence viewer now – however, I could not get it to display more than 1 angle in the 4-up multicam display. I also saw a thread in the Adobe PPro forums that Multicam was broken, but didn’t know if this was the symptom. I used the same method i always used to do with PPro CS 5.5 (I jumped over CS 6 – too many AVCHD issues).
As I did before in CS 5.5, I nested a multi track sequence into a sequence, and then enabled multicam for that nested sequence/clip.
Anyway for me I can’t get multicam to work. This is a major bug if it’s true! Thanks much for any advice.

July 1, 2013 at 7:35 pmHey Keith,
I’m here searching for answers to other multicam issues but overall, multicam in CC Premiere Pro is working for us (we just working out workflow after switching from FCP) other than the fact that we can’t easily add a .wav file to a multicam clip when we initially create it and can’t view the original source time code in the multicam window.
The process is a bit convoluted to set up the project than we would like but overall multicam is working on our mac pro system.
Wish I could be more helpful – I’ll be posting separately regarding my questions and the current work arounds we’re using.

July 1, 2013 at 9:51 pmIt’s not that complicated once you do it in CC.
It’s not worth using in it’s current state though, unless
you do the edit then export it immediately.with the bug and it is a SERIOUS one, after you save, close
then re-open all the footage is out of place. = hours of work flushed down the proverbial toilet.word is Adobe is hard at work to get it fixed on the first update.

July 1, 2013 at 9:53 pmYep, it’s a bug, big thread on this down below. Adobe is well aware of the situation and working on the fix.

July 2, 2013 at 1:08 amI’m new to PPro (from FCP). I’m editing footage from 2 cameras with separate sound and everything is already in synced sequences. I’ve played around a little bit with multicam, I’m just waiting for them to fix the bug.
Each time I’ve tried multicam I’ve:
1. Highlighted the clips in the timeline
2. Nest
3. Right click “multicam enable”Done.
Is that correct?I ask because every time I read about multicam on forum posts or in adobe’s literature there is talk of making “a multicam sequence.” If it is fine to use multicam without bothering, I just wonder why this isn’t promoted as a feature. Or maybe there is something I’ve missed. I’d hate to discover what that is at the end of a project.
If there is no problem using multicam in this way I will simply nest and enable multicam for each interview segment independently. Seems like a nice step forward from FCP (when they get it working.)

July 2, 2013 at 4:26 amThanks Peter,
That’s what I’m talking about though. Adobe stuff about this on the web always starts with someone making a multicam sequence (as he does in that linked video).
I am nesting synced clips in the sequence I already have and then enabling multicam. Is there any downside to working in this way?

July 2, 2013 at 4:42 amAh sorry I get what your saying.
With the project that you have I don’t see any disadvantage. Your workflow may take a extra click or 2 but that’s all I can think of.

April 5, 2014 at 12:18 pmHi. I’m nesting my clips, choosing enable multi cam and editing that way. However after I choose which clips to see, after I play the clip it goes back to normal again. Is there a problem with the way that I’m doing it?
