also try changing your gop setting. I believe if it’s set open it creates the blocky artifacts.

Yes, trying to capture a live feed and record to tape at the same time. the tapes will be used for online, just thought there might be a way to do this directly and save the time digitizing after the shoot. So I still wonder whether it is possible to get timecode in to the kona but on second thought the output from the evertz seems a bit dodgy. I guees I’ll just have to do it the good ol fashioned way.

thank you both so much for the info. now you say you use drop frame. is this the standard? i have previosly always output in ndf.
