I was thinking of making a “clone” of my C drive, to reinstall if things went south, has anyone done this?

Just completed a “clean install” of the nivdia drivers, still crashing on render.
Running an i7 chip, 12 gigs of ram, a separate “render to” drive, system was stable a week ago, cannot think of what else to do. I also booted up with all start up programs off, tried to render and still crashed.
I went back to an earlier “restore point” and windows could not complete the restore, some cryptic error message, naturally zero help.
I have the latest update of VP11, I was working a week ago, I uninstalled it and reinstalled VP11, though I did not delete the reg key entries, I do not want o kill my computer! Would it help to uninstall all the Microsoft add ons that came with VP11? (virtual server sql and c++) and then install VP11 again? Can’t think of what else to do.

I updated the card, after it was crashing, wanted to “make sure” I had the latest driver, hoping that would fix the issue, it did not.
I’ll look into the microsoft update, I usually keep the system current.

With the latest update of 11 – 595/64bit, running i7 chip, I’m OK so far. Starting a new project this week, have VP9 still installed, but have not used it for a while. I had a lot of issues with the first release, now I’m more confidant with the software.

Updated my graphics card driver; now it works! Always something with a new version… 😉

I’m using the update and now my card is set to “off” with no option to turn it on. It worked fine with the previous version, now nothing. I have a low end video card, so if I want GPU processing I suppose I’ll have to upgrade it.

Do you want to stay 8 bit or go 10 bit? Are you color profiling your monitors, are you using only computer monitors or a HDTV/broadcast monitor as well? It all depends. Most of my work is for the web, so 8 bit sRGB is fine for me. I added an Asus PA238 8bit monitor to my older Viewsonic vx2433wm 8bit, they do look different,but I do prefer the image on the Asus. If you update to a 10 bit monitor, then a 10 bit dual head card will be an additional expense as well.

I have 3 zoom lenses for my 7D, 2 IS, love them! Looking to add a 4th zoom, will be IS. Most of my shooting with the 7d is handheld video and stills, I use the feature for both and love it.
