I just picked up the C100, had the same concerns as you did, kept my 7D &60D and made an “upgrade” that made financial and technical sense. For what I do, the C100 is fine, the “viewfinder issues” are not as bad as some people made them out to be, so I am happy for that. I did buy a Zacuto replacement eyecup and foam cover, they work great, “almost” made for the viewfinder. I considered the FS100 &700, but needed a camera that was more hand holdable than the Sonys. For the price, the C100 was it.

Photoline pl32.com I used Gimp for a while and was frustrated with it, and did not want to buy photoshop (too expensive) I found Photoline and am very happy with it. 32&64 bit, 16bit color depth, only 8 on gimp! Uses PS plugins, etc. Excellent low cost alternative to PS, +/- $75.

I have been shooting with a 7D as well, and wanted a second camera, so I bought a 60D, it’s the same chip! That is the only way to “match” cameras. Using a camera with 3-CCD’s of vastly different size will always be a problem if you want the same look. The xf100/105 uses one,small, CMOS sensor, will it be closer to the xf300 or the 7D/60D? Has anyone tried to inter-cut with good results?

Evaluate all your clients over the past year, and fire the worst one. Spend your time finding new, profitable, clients, not dwelling on those who have proven to be of no value to your business. Being “insanely busy” is not valuable unless you are also “insanely profitable” you are better off prospecting for new work than doing unprofitable work, just to “feel busy.” My $0.02

I found this is where “dual eyes” has paid off, I’m able to synch and link outside of VP12 and then actually have the 6 tracks of production audio be editable in the trimmer and be able to make sub-clips with the 6 tracks moving to the timeline, for me this was always an issue with VP, now it’s not. Though one “caveat” only two tracks are visible at once in the trimmer, but you can choose which pair in a drop down box, nice feature, but what’s better is that all the tracks end up on the timeline when clips are eventually placed there.

I was recently visiting a friend of mine who is an editor, he has an Avid system and just recently started to use Premiere pro, as I explained how I have been handling synched audio with Vegas Pro, he said that his programs handle synch differently. He is able to “link” production audio with video within his program and then edit the “clips” with the audio attached, this is the one aspect of Vegas Pro that I have had difficulty with and now using dual eyes have found a reasonable work around. If you want me to call him and have him explain it in more detail than I am able I will, but from my conversation with him it seems that the other systems are better able to deal with synched audio through the post process. I have not cut on an avid or premiere, I have only been using SVP 9~12.

Update to last post: Though only the first two tracks show in the trimmer, when I made a sub-clip and then dropped it on the timeline, it still had my 6 tracks of production audio, just a note in case your relevant audio for the clip is not on ch.1 or 2.

I bought an upgrade to Plural eyes 3, but it’s not available yet for windows, but they give you v2 and dual eyes, which I just tried and it worked! I have been using pluraleyes, synching on the timeline and using 2 instances of VP9,10,11 to copy and paste my “clips” because VP was not able to break up the synched material on the timeline to create clips for my trim bins. John R. suggested “nested projects” which worked, but only with 2 tracks, I recently started to record 6 tracks of production audio with a Tascam DR-680 and want to cut with all 6 tracks, if possible.
Today I finally got around to trying out Dual Eyes and it did exactly what I have been trying to do since VP9. I was able to synch audio outside of VP and then import the synched clip to the media bin. Opened the media in the trimmer and selected a portion to make a sub clip, dropped the sub clip on the time line and there were 6 tracks! Amazing.
A new workflow for me using VP 11/12, why Sony cannot enable audio and video to be “linked” like the Avid or Premiere Pro from within the program ??? but now I have a reasonable work around for what I want to do.
