  • I bought myself a Fresco Logic FL1009 PCIe addin card after reading this press release from Blackmagic: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/press/pressdetails?releaseID=5197

It is working well for me!

    Problem resolved!
I went out and purchased a Startech USB3 cable rated for 4.8Gbps and now everything works as smooth as it should! 🙂

    Thanks for the suggestion, Danny!
I can’t even capture because it (Media Express) says that it’s dropping frames. It doesn’t even show the input in Media Express, but it does forward it to my monitor out of the Shuttle.
I know for a fact my HDD is fast enough. BM speedtest tells me it’s good for 425 fps for SD uncompressed read and write.

I’m thinking more it’s the USB3 card (Asus USB3) that is not fast enough even though in theory it should be.

I’m primarily using the Shuttle for video monitoring and recording out of, since I work mostly with footage shot on P2 or SXS cards. Even on just monitoring the media, the Shuttle is dropping out. Not always just black but black, then green/magenta diagonal lines across the screen for a split second, back to black and then showing my image again.

I’m puzzled… I have tried contacting BM support through email, but I’m still waiting to hear back.

    Thanks again, Danny!

I am now also experiencing green/magenta video interference at the same time the audio pops and crackles. This happens about every two minutes now.

I totally agree! I don’t understand how they could not spend more resources on fixing Media Manager. FCP is simply the first NLE (with the archiving function available) for me that just won’t do it properly even thought I make sure all clips from tape have timecode and are labeled correctly.
It is really tiring for sure every time you have to bring an old project back to life.

    Shame on Apple!

I run CS3 on a 64bit XP and I find that maybe the one program on its own does not benefit from the extra RAM, but if I run Photoshop, Illustrator and AE at once they do not compete with sharing the SAME 2Gb of RAM but can use 2Gb EACH out of my 8Gb. So when running multiple programs at once I see a huge benefit.

I had the same problem, and it turned out that all media that wouldn’t be managed properly had been captured without TC reference.
In my case it was only a 60 sec. promo so I recaptured it all with TC and it would media manage properly.
