Thanks for the heads up Walter. Though I am planning on having a dedicated PC hooked up. I did check your blog, it seems your new printer is problematic too? Any new ideas?

Hi Tim, if you happen to check here again, I was looking at getting a Bravo Auto Printer along with the duplicator package. How many discs per minute does it print approximately? I’m going to be doing runs from 400 up to 1,000. Thanks!

Thanks so much. Now, to be a further pest, do you know of any sites where I can compare reviews of these and other products? There is a big price difference between the similar DiscMaker and Octave equipment. .

Thanks for the info. As stated in the title, I need to duplicate dvd-9’s, and I can’t find specifications on either of the systems mentioned here.

    Hi Tim,

Thanks for the info. I’m looking at a ReflexAuto8 which looks exactly like the copymaster II. Question: does the copymaster II burn DVD-9’s?

March 8, 2008 at 10:52 pm in reply to: Compressor HELP!!

Hi Derek; I feel your pain! I just started using compressor about a month ago. If you are using any of the filters within compressor that will slow it down also. My projects are usually around 90 min. and take about 3 hours to encode through compressor, I’m using an intel macbook pro. When I add filters, such as the color correction, it sometimes takes 10 hours! I would say that it’s a good suggestion to first export the movie as a self-contained file to the desktop, then run through compressor. Also, compressor can sit there for quite awhile showing one time and then suddenly move on, so don’t panic. If I were you, I’d just let it run, and go outside and enjoy that nice weather. That’s what I’m doing today while compressor busily encodes….

Chris, I’m in a time crunch which is why I wasn’t considering a studio fix, but you’ve spurred me on to try and get it done at a place I know. Thanks!

Hi Jeremy, thanks for replying. I fixed the problem by trying (out of frustration) the ProIO setting (which wasn’t there before I installed the firmware update, and didn’t sound like the correct setting). That did the trick.

March 3, 2008 at 8:02 pm in reply to: canon ZR-200 mini dv problem

It’s definitely not the tapes, I know they are good, so it’s the playback in the camera itself. Probably will be less expensive just to find another used ZR200 than to get it fixed! Like I said, I am only using it as a pass-through into my editing system, and don’t want to spend $$$ to get a new camera that has that function.

I use the MacBook Pro laptop. I produce dvds and I edit two dvds per month. I edit in the airport, on the bus, in hotels, at home, at my partners house…..so if you need to be mobile with your editing, no problem with the laptop. I had to purchase two LaCie all-terrain 7200rpm firewire hard drives though, the 2gbs in the laptop weren’t enough space, but those two little hard drives do the trick and weigh practically nothing.
