  • I do this all the time, ditto on what the previous post said, and you can also drag the audio lines to right and left after you’ve made a duplicate track. It’s phony stereo, but it’s better than mono.

Hi Bob, I’m using an external LaCie drive for capturing. I posted this on the final cut forum too, and got a few answers that I think might help.

Great, thanks. I’ll give it a try. I think that’s one setting I didn’t try because I’d had such a bad experience with it with DV.

Ed, I accidently used the DV50 codec when I captured some DV footage recently, and it made all the movement choppy. This won’t happen when capturing analog?

Hi all, thanks for all the input. It is a dual drive mac G4, I used it for years with a Media 100 system with no problems. This is the first time I’ve tried capturing beta SP via the Aja. It did indeed abort on capture when I first tried it, so I guess I can assume the drive isn’t fast enough. I tell you, this is enough to make me go back to Media 100, where I never had a single problem for years! Can you explain to me why Media 100 was able to capture exactly the same footage with the same drives with no problems, ever? Oh, and I’m capturing to an external LaCie bigger disc extreme, the same one I’ve been using for years also.

Shoot, I’m away from the system, I’ll have to look it up tomorrow. Not sure which drive, there is nothing else hooked up to the system.

I’ll try again in the dvd authoring forum, although my previous post there regarding dvd duplicating equipment got no replies, hence I returned here, where I at least got some helpful responses.

See? This is why I wanted to open a discussion! I do fairly short runs now of SD, 500 to 1,000. That’s why I’m getting a duplicator set up to do my own runs. What are the licensing fees for BluRay? And Walter, if you are doing your own duplication, how many discs do you duplicate on your equipment?

I was hoping to talk about thoughts of when/if blu-ray is going to take over the dvd market. I own a dvd label and the market seems to be grinding to a halt because no one knows which way to go.

Thank you for all the info. I’m in such a quandary now because I’m anticipating having to do blu-rays in the near future. I might go with strictly the Bravo XR (and Tim, I hope they DO go faster now, I’ll check) and wait until after I go to NAB to consider what other duplicator to get. *sigh*

I talked to a friend who has three Bravos and he swears by them, but it sounds like you need three to produce any volume!
