I edit every single day and usually do brand new things with every project.
I only post to Creative Cow when I truly am stuck.
And yet every time I walk away feeling like a TOTAL moron because it’s usually something so unbelievably simple!
This OF COURSE worked. I don’t know what is wrong with me for not even thinking of this. I think I was so hung up on little details …

It’s been anamorphically fitted into 640×480. So the sides are squished in and makes everyone look really tall and skinny.

There was no quality difference between the viewer and the canvas – both screen shots were taken in the canvas – it’s just that one was pre-rendering and one was rendered. I work with all types of images both in Motion and FCP almost every single day of my life and this has NEVER happened to me before.
Whether it was an imported animated Motion file or jpgs dragged directly onto the timeline, the same thing was happening. It looked gorgeous until it got rendered, then it looked like crap. I changed all the settings, made it an HD timeline, etc … nothing worked.
And when I exported it to a .mov, it was still that same crappy quality.
Anyway, it’s fixed now. I don’t know what happened. All of a sudden it literally just started rendering at full quality. My husband (graphic designer) took a look at it while I was at work – he must have changed something, but he swears he didn’t. But, when I got home and rendered the project again, there was no problem. He said all he did was change the percentage that the canvas was zoomed in – but that wouldn’t change the quality of the .mov file, too.
So the client has his file and I literally have no idea why now there is no problem when it looked like a crap five hours before that.

Yes, that’s what I’ve done with other things. It’s just annoying … FCP is having a hard time reconnecting the files after I name them.

I’m now having problems with the files – will have to rename all the files with .mov extensions. Sigh.
Also, FCP is having an issue reconnecting some of them after the extension is added. I can import them in, but it just kind of thinks and thinks while reconnecting (only with some of them.)
But that’s okay, I can reconstruct it if I need to.

It worked. I feel like an idiot now. In my defense, I am hopped up on all kinds of bronchitis medicine … and my husband, who normally helps me if I’m having a stupid moment, is hopped up on flu medicine, so I think we’re both pretty worthless when it comes to technology right now.
