I’m no expert but I had a hell of a time with 2 soundtracks and only needing one, so I asked on this forum how to separate them. Bingo, a very quick response. here is my version: in the trimmer you can select which track audio or video, or both, you take down to the timeline, then you can adjust (push/pull) the vision (2 tracks) to sync the sound. Alternately, on the timeline you can ungroup or regroup stuff and lift out the segments that you don’t want….magic. This last tool is really useful as you slide stuff along and back.

  • What have I done wrong.I am ready to render and notice that mytimeline has pink segments (both audio and video). Ok, i try to render and a message comes back asking if i have access to the file at the time the pink starts…any clues? (render stops) (yes i did see those pink araes while working but I though it was just track colour.)

Thanks Guys, you put me onto the right track, so to speak. Firstly there’s nothing like reading the instruction manual more than once, BUT it helps to know what sort of terminology to look for.

You can UNGROUP in both the trimmer and on the timeline if you want to separate audio from video, then you just delete whatever you don’t want if in the timeline or just select what you want to insert from the trimmer…snap! (if you have ungrouped the timeline, it pays to regroup pretty soon after the edit or you will probably loose it).

Thanks to everyone who even thought about this. I used to edit with Final Cut when I was employed and now I’m a bit rusty since retiring.

Thanks , so how do I then save that imagery that remains so i can use bits of it over the good audio?
