  • I used the file>import>XDCAM in FCP which opens up XDCAM transfer, then Cmd + A to select all clip and hit import. When I realised this one clip was missing and knowing I had to return the sxs card to the rental place I copied the entire contents of the sxs card to the hard drive using finder, as a back up. So given that I can view the clip how do I go about importing it into XDCAM transfer so that I can rewrap/convert it into a file I can edit.

Also I just had a look around XDCAM transfer and cant find a CRC option, where is it?

    thanks

    The storyboards are done, 1553_largestoryboards.pdf.zip
they’re not exactly conventional, but give quite a good idea of how the shots will go from one to the other and the timings. In the past my use of after effects has been to create sub 30 second title sequences or sending specific shots from fcp to AE to do something specific with. I’m just wondering if my approach should change and how i should handle the water colour assests mainly.

Thanks for the advice, i was leaning towards the idea of filming the assets and then using some after effects wizardry to blend it all together, this seems like the perfect solution. Had a look a mr Mercury too, very like the particle (world?) effect, may not be a useful for that instance but using it helped me with the animation of the river (by increasing the particle size to form a undulating mass) so thanks.

thanks for the advice zane; I’ve formatted the drive as os extended but made a very small partition MS-DOS (FAT 32) so that if ever need to transfer files between platforms i can (although files van be no larger than 4GB). The additional content is now on my external and appears to be working fine. This is a really good way of running FCS2 on a macbook pro with limited internal hard drive space.

Hi George thanks for the response. I had a little investigation into that poser program and in theory I should be able to download the 30day trial of poser 7 and use it for this project so thanks. It does however seem to be mainly geared towards animation of the human form and mine will be of a fox. do you think this will be a problem? also all the content and tutorials I have seen so far seem to focus on the 3d. would I be making a 3d model and then applying a really sketchy style to it and then animating it? or if not what would the basic technique be and do you know of any online tutorials?

Unfortunately I don’t have a tablet yet and have never used one before

    thanks again
    Luke
