I don’t own nor I have I used Disk Warrior but I’m willing to give it a go and buy it if it may mean getting the footage back. Are the results likely to be better than with the Disk Drill utility I used? I’m guessing Disk Warrior is the industry standard/recommended software.

  • Thanks Kenny,

But I’m not sure thats the problem, I have my clips in the timeline and split over mono tracks, theres actually no audio in the “Voiceover” track but because of the way its set to map out as channel 7+8 it forces whatever is on 7 and whatever is on 8 into a stereo track across the 7th and 8th channels. Thus the interview track that was mono on one channel become stereo on output. Or to put it another way; if i did have a Voiceover track on export it wouldn’t be independent to the Interview track it would just be a stereo mix of those two channels combined.
I don’t understand why premiere demands that the tracks be mapped as pairs!

Does that make sense? Anybody had a problem like this?

    Thanks

I see, I’m back at my computer now and have turned of auto orient for both layers, but my issue now is they don’t face the camera as as the go round the carousel. As I change the y rotation of the null which drives the animation I can see the pink Y rotation of each of the parent ‘product’ layers moving but I cant see how its any different to having no expression, i.e. by the time they have rotated to the background I’m seeing the backside of them, whereas I want them to be perfectly parallel to the focus plane at all times. If that makes sense.

I dont think so, I’ll check when I back at my computer.

Is that the idea, that the expresion circumvents the use of auto orient?

Thanks guys, I’ve seen the pegasus Thunderbolt RAID’s before, they look great and very future proof. The toaster drive mounter sounds like a great way to manage my archiving and “recall” a project when needed. Do you have any recommendations on brand/model etc? And pardon my ignorance but does RAID 1 mean I copy projects for archiving to two separate hard drives. Do I do this manually? or is there a system that people use?

Has anyone had any experience with he “checking out a project” feature I mentioned above, would be great to know if that actually worked in a full circle sense.

    thanks

I’ve located the preview files folder and found it to be empty, which makes sense; I was just doing my rough cut and hadn’t need to render the sequence yet. and there weren’t any from old projects as this is my first time using prem.

it may be my imagination but it looks like certain clips are causing the problem, is there a more robust work flow I could try out as a test. Converting to prores maybe?

    thanks

I’ve trashed preferences and cleared the cache using this method

looking into it I’m guessing “repairing permissions” is something only the system administrator can do?
which could be a problem because I am not the system administrator, just one of many users.

is this likely to be the root of the problem?

    thanks

  • Good to know, sounds like one software to do it all would be a lot simpler. or even if they just had a plugin so it worked in Log and Transfer right within FCP, like the P2 and canon ones.

so what is the process of rewrapping/converting this rouge clip so i can edit the darn thing, all I have available is the copied (in finder) BPAV directory.

thanks for all the help guys

    Luke
