Hi Luis,

I wonder if your problem is that you are using QuickTime 7 on Mac and QuickTime 6.5 on Windows? If one of your Mac systems is running QuickTime 6.5.2, please try using that to create your QuickTime movie as the latest version of QuickTime on Windows is still v6.5 and I’m not sure what effect QuickTime 7.0 for Mac might have on movies destined for use in Premiere Pro for Windows.

Hi Chris,

If you are using DeckLink Macintosh v5.0 drivers in Mac OS X 10.4, then you aren’t using the Blackmagic codec but rather the Apple Uncompressed codecs as we’ve standardized on Apple’s codecs in DeckLink v5.0 drivers.

I tried to test this after installing Combustion 3.0.4 but I ran in to some problem authorizing the software so I couldn’t test it. I don’t know if Combustion v3.0.4 is compatible with Tiger and couldn’t find anything on the AutoDesk web site to indicate either way.

I’m awaiting a copy of Combustion v4.0 which is due here next week so I’ll be interested to see if we find any compatibility issues with QuickTime files in Combustion v4.0.

Hi Jeremiah,

Sean’s advice is spot on. However make sure you are using good quality SDI cables. You’re working in SD-SDI and so don’t need the more expensive HD-SDI cables. However if you work with a mix of SD and HD gear, then having different grades of cables can be confusing and it is better to standardize on HD-rated cables. Hi,

The Multibridge Extreme should ship first followed by Multibridge Studio. We’re still on track for a northern summer release. Hopefully that means by the end of July but it could well be August and I’m not sure. We’ll know more in late July.

That is very strange. Please quit from Final Cut Pro HD and try using Blackmagic Deck Control. Try playing out a PAL DV movie and see if it works. This will tell us whether the issue is limited to FCP or more general.

Hi John,

Firstly, please ensure you are using DeckLink v4.8 drivers with Final Cut Pro HD v4.5. The newer DeckLink v5.0 drivers cannot be used with FCPv4.5 and are designed for use with FCPv5.0. You can use the Blackmagic DeckLink Uninstaller to remove the v5.0 drivers if they are currently installed.

To work in SD, launch Final Cut Pro HD v4.5, go to the Final Cut Pro HD menu and choose Easy Setups. Then choose one of the Blackmagic NTSC or PAL easy setups. This will configure the DeckLink HD card to capture in SD mode and you should be able to capture.

If this still fails, quit from FCP, launch Blackmagic Deck Control and select an NTSC or PAL easy setup from it’s preferences. Now try to capture your SD material. If this works, then there must be some setting in FCPv4.5 which needs to be changed as it should be working just fine.

Hi Chris,

The new Multibridge models are due to ship sometime this northern summer and I won’t be sure about the interface until it is ready to ship. However it is my expectation that it will contain similar controls to the HDLink utility but I don’t actually know how the interface will be implemented as I guess it will need to combine the interface for the existing DeckLink, Multibridge and HDLink products.
