I just tried that. It didn’t change anything.

  • I believe I am having this same issue, and the solution didnt work for me. Or maybe I am having a different issue.

I have an interview on white that a light stand was visible in the corner, simple solution was to cover it with white solid, but now transitioning to that interviews shows the line.

    does anyone have a solution?

    Here is a screenshot

Yes, I am using ‘Analyze Motion’ to get the points set on where I want the icon to stay, and that seems to be working pretty well.

My issue is that I cannot get the second layer to stay with those points, it floats around… Should I be doing this work in ‘3D’ with a camera in the timeline ?

When I try to position the icon before hand, it jumps to a new position when I put on the ‘Match Move’ behaviour. If I try to do it after putting on the ‘match move’ behaviour it swings wildly around and the position becomes 888888345% or something similar.

This is the look I am trying to recreate. This was created in After Effects. I am trying to get a similar look put together to use in templates within Final Cut Pro. I am also using this project to become more familiar with Motion.

To be honest I have not looked at the Replicator before. I understand the concept and the differences now. Thank you. I am still having an issue getting anything to move on the motion path though. Or are you suggesting I don’t use a motion path?

    Thanks.

I am looking at making the particles behave like a stream of water. So a randomized group of particles that loosely stick together and follow a path.

    Does that help?

Thanks so much Mark. I’m not a big fan of workarounds, but it does work.

Thank you so much Both of you for taking the time to help me with this.

I changed my particles to wireframes and it helped a little bit. Then I looked at the Life of the particles and lowered that to the time of my comp, it changed everything. Motion now works so much better.

So for future reference I now know that Particle life should not exceed the comp time.

    Thanks Again!

Oh ok. So the CPU is calculating the position of the particles and then passing it off to the GPU to display? makes sense. So is there a way to allow Motion to use more of the CPU for those calculations?
