    Hi Steve,

Thanks for your reply. I suppose the reason I felt it was cheeky is that they are not making “small changes”, they want to basically want to use my layout, format and style that I design for one catalogue for all their future catalogues, and future products, which I think is slightly different. Continuing your analogy, it’s kind of like asking someone to build a house then asking for all the plans, building materials etc. so they can build as many as they want. However, your reply made me see the problem from the other POV. So, I decided to charge simply the hours I put into the project with no premium in any way for the editable files, except preparing the editables themselves, which I think is more than fair.

    Thanks

    Luke

Thanks everyone, extremely helpful as always. I think I will try to do what Mark suggested, and try to get the client to let me “maintain” any future changes to the design. I’ll let you know how it goes. Thanks again everyone!

Hi, thanks very much for the advice Owen and everyone. I didn’t get the whole job, the client said they might need some particle animation that I could do at a later stage in the project. At least I have more if an idea of what to expect now.

The problem is I can not seem to find more work or any projects. Is there any kind of sites that I should look at to find work in London, or people to call? I feel like I am missing something, I am sure that there are loads of freelance jobs that I could do, I simply don’t see any. At the moment I look on gumtree, Mograph, motionographer and I went to 42nd Street Recruitment for a meeting with a recruiter in Soho the other day. I am not completely inexperienced, I have completed quite a few projects for people online, but they seem to be few and far between. Any advice on getting work would be massively appreciated.

    Thanks so so much

Thank you so much everyone! I couldn’t have hoped for better responses. Meeting with the client tomorrow, quite nervous, but not half as much as I was!

    Thanks again

    December 2, 2007 at 11:25 pm in reply to: Microsoft mpeg4 v 2 on a Mac?

Umm, I realise it may not show support for the codec, but I did just use the program and encoded MS mpeg4 v2 successfully. It may seem suprising but it definately does work.

Just in case anyone ever has the same problem, I used a piece of software called Video Converter for Mac, https://www.mp4converter.net/video-converter-mac.html, to encode to Mpeg4 v2. Problem solved!

It’s for playback on a photobooth, basically a demonstration video that will play when it is not in use. Apparently MPEG4 v2 is the only format that will play on the device. Is there maybe a modern, similar equivalent that might work? I have tried Flip4Mac and it’s no good. Any other suggestions greatly appreciated!

Great, thanks a lot. What codec settings could i use on my original render to ensure this doesn’t happen?
