    ahhh interesting.

too bad you can’t use VTR Exchange to batch digitize hundreds of clips… or can you?

I found via processing quicktimes through Cineform that the clips actually had HANDLES beyond what was logged in Final Cut Pro.

So the actually quicktime files contained more data than was specified to digitize. You couldn’t see these frames in FCP or Quicktime – it was only after another program processed them that they appeared. This ONLY happened to clips digitized through Kona. If a render file was created, there would be no extra frames.

My though was that the problem originated with the original digitization.

Yeah, that’s what I did too. I had to render out the entire feature – then it played out correctly.

Just out of curiosity – what sort of storage are you using? We are on a Facilis (shared SAN storage) here.

Have you been in touch w/ AJA of Apple? AJA hasn’t been able to figure out the problem.

    Jay,

Did you ever resolve this issue? I’ve been having the same troubles.

  • Have you tested the advanced pulldown method? I know it’ll work when bringing it in over firewire in the dv50, but what about SDI into uncompressed?

I’ve tested it with Firewire…if the video was shot 24pA it works great. Have not tried it through SDI, it would be interesting to know if that works.

    Concerning normal pulldown:
If I log on :29 or :00, will that A Frame be consistent across the whole tape(s), or just that shot?

It should be the same for ALL your tapes. It’s related to your deck configuration, not the recording method.

    Jeremy,

You should be able to remove advanced pulldown via FCP.

With normal pull down, you need to have your inpoint set on an “A” frame. Depending on what your deck offset is set to, you will most likely need to log in at either the “:00” or the “:29” frame.

You’ll just have to test it to see what it is.

yeah, I think it’s either a bug in Cinema Tools or a problem with how our camera’s were set up.

I could NOT get it to work through Cinema Tools. Now I’m using a Kona LH card to digitize it…it does the pulldown removal in real time and also lets me capture the footage at DV resolution.

    yes, it does

    try “.fcp”

or after you have received the file, save it to your desktop, then highlight it and “get info” (apple + i)

about 1/2 down the list there is an “open with” pull down menu – select “final cut pro,” and above that you can set the extension to “.fcp”

    hope that helps.

January 20, 2006 at 8:24 pm in reply to: How to trim all tracks of a clip at once?

if the clips names are still under-lined, you need to turn on “linked selection” (shift +L) this will let you adjust all the linked audio/video tracks together.

there is a button for this in the upper right hand corner of the timeline. it looks like an “8” at 45 degrees in side of dotted line box.

  • Jeremy,

I believe it was shot “normal.” But Cinema Tools only gives me the “automated batch reverse 2:3:2:3 pulldown” option.

Would that mean that it was shot “advanced”?

    thanks,

    Luke
