    Hi,

I’m having trouble e-mailing FCP project files back and forth between my editor. I’m using yahoo mail to send an attachment, and when the file is downloaded the icon appears as a white paper rather than the FCP clapboard icon. I look under “get info” and the file shows up as a “Final Cut Pro MEDIA file”, not an FCP project file. When I try opening the file in FCP, a message states “File error: Wrong type”.

I know sometimes in the PC world that files will lose their extensions (.exe, .doc) and will not open until you manually type the extension in the filename. Does the same instance occur with FCP project files in the Mac world?

    Any info much appreciated.
    Alexander

    Here are system specs:

    Powerbook G4
    FCP HD 4.5

Try zipping the file before attaching it.

    Thanks,
    Gary

    yes, it does

    try “.fcp”

or after you have received the file, save it to your desktop, then highlight it and “get info” (apple + i)

about 1/2 down the list there is an “open with” pull down menu – select “final cut pro,” and above that you can set the extension to “.fcp”

    hope that helps.

    …I’ll cut you up good…
