    Rob,
That might have been the single most helpful bit of advice I have ever received on the COW!!!
I installed Logic after FCP on my system. I was assuming that after the install was finished that Logic would show up as an option for export in the FCP menus. I knew it had to be simpler than using an XML or AAF file.

I haven’t tried this yet because I am not at home right now but this leads me to another question. Will this method create new audio files that can then be packaged and sent to an external audio studio? Or does the resulting Logic file access the same media that FCP uses?

OK I think I fixed this problem (with all of your help).
I’m not exactly sure what we did but the last attempt at importing the OMF into ProTools worked
with the automation. I think we switched a checkbox in the import settings in ProTools but we tried so many times that I can’t tell you which setting made the difference. Either way I blame the audio guy (my buddy Steve) for a user error that cost us a few days!!!

Thanks for the help guys …

I’m about to post a new topic about FCP to Logic.
If you have any thoughts please chime in on the new thread.

    Thanks

I have to ask the audio engineer what version he is running but I don’t think its old.
Maybe a version behind but not ancient. Either way its not working.
I don’t know if its a FCP bug or a Protools bug. I don’t even thing the automation shows up in Logic when I open the OMF on my machine. (I’m going to double check that now)

I don’t think I should have to buy automatic duck for something that is supposedly build right into FCP.
(The check boxes are right there in the export options!!)
    Will XML work?
What about going to SoundTrack first and then to Protools?

    Bouke
My question is more specifically directed to the use of the AUX tracks in the new TC viewer window.
they really serve no purpose in this window. The TC viewer window seems really crippled especially since AVID has had a very functional TC window for years now. I loathe sitting in front of an AVID anymore but I would figure that Apple would be at least be paying attention to the few things that AVID does well.

It displays the source timecode when the Viewer window is selected!!
There is no PLIST I can edit?
This seems like a very simple feature. I can’t believe that its not there!!!
What exactly are the AUX timecodes?

So what you are saying is that AVID’s own codecs are incompatible with each other!!!
Don’t they realize that installing software on corporate PCs in large workgroups is frowned upon?

How do I determine what version of the codec I am running on the PC.

I never actually thought of using the SD card as a capture scratch disk!!!
(I’m pissed because its not CompactFlash).
Would that work? I know they are supposedly getting faster and bigger.
I really have no desire to lug a 17″ MBP around!!!
The only benefit of this is that my current 2008 MBP will be really valuable on Ebay when I decide to upgrade!!!

Honestly Steve I can’t remember what the font size is. I’m not sitting in front of it right now and will not be back at that client until Wed after the holiday. For some reason 18 is sticking in my head. The client needs certain paragraphs on screen during the presentation so the line breaks are very specific. (The job would be great if it weren’t for the clients right?)

Walt, I understand other graphic programs using pure white but we are talking about plugins for a broadcast editor. I guess I shouldn’t have assumed!!!

Thanks for the info guys …

So what should the proper white setting be in the Boris 3d plug?
Do I make it 80%? Is the proper way to change it using the greyscale slider of the Apple color picker and making the number 80%?

Also, what does the 1:2:1 deflicker check box accomplish?

Does the Apple title tool default to 100% white as well?

Walt, I have your Color Grading DVD. Haven’t gotten a chance to dive too deep yet but It looks cool.
I still think Apple released Color too early as the workflow between FCP, Color, and Motion is broken in my opinion.

    Jan
FCP’s handling of markers is abysmal!!! It drives me nuts every time I have to make changes to a timeline that has markers in it and re-export to DVDStudio. You can’t move them around without using a keystroke and you can’t move them earlier in a timeline at all!!

I tried different copy and paste tests to get markers from one clip to another and it doesn’t seem to work.
I don’t think there is a solution to your question that is short of adding them again manually.
