My system is doing the exact same. I also upgraded from a G5. The G 5 ran smoothly. Since using a mac pro I have run into the crashing problems. Ram seems ok. I did a fresh fcp install & still no luck.

You will need Digitranslator or DV Toolkit 2 to open OMF files in Pro Tools. This is optional extra.

It was a fresh install. Yes I repaired Permissions with Disk Utility. No luck

Can i try Disk Warrior?
