That seems to have done it. Thank you!

I made some text smaller in FCP but did not put a move on it. Just made it smaller overall.

  • Thank you Everest. Just to confirm- If I choose a field dominance for progressive footage, I am changing it to interlaced footage. Is that correct?

  • Okay. Changing the duration to 100% of source seems to have worked. I still see the lines in the footage mostly when there is fast motion but I have to assume that this is because of choosing the upper field first and there is nothing much I can do about it. So, technically, I think my export meets the specs I’m supposed to deliver. However, if anyone has read this tread and knows a better way I’d love to hear it.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks. I think I tried what you are saying. I sent my 1080p sequence to Compressor, choosing Quicktime h.264 and changing the frame rate to 29.97 in the video settings and changing output field to top first in frame controls. However, my exported file from that played fast- it played at 29.97 for 24 seconds. And it had the interlacing lines through it. It didn’t look horrible but it didn’t look like it did when it was progressive. Anyway, I’m doing a new test. For set duration to, I selected “so source frames play at 29.97 fps.” Maybe that’s what made it play fast. Now I’m doing a test where I selected 100% of source. So, assuming this works, is it normal for my footage to have the small lines through it now since I selected top field first? I also tried making an MPEG 2 which is also another deliverable option. I can select field dominance in the encoder tab there. I chose MPEG2 Transport and it says that there should be audio with it but there is no audio on my exported file. Do I have to do audio as a separate element?

April 28, 2011 at 12:40 pm in reply to: PowerPoint presentation into Final Cut Pro?

I opened a Power Point presentation in Keynote and saved as a QT movie. In QT it looks fine but in FCP it’s not looking too hot. I also made tiffs from Power Point and those look fine in the Viewer window but look bad when I put them on my 720X480 timeline. Please help!
    Thanks!

Thanks Walter. I guess I need your advice. Let me tell you my situation… Editing is something I do occasionally. Used to be full time but things have changed (ie kid.) I still edit for broadcast tv though. Right now I’m working on a sales video. Anyway, because I only edit sometimes, I can’t make huge investments in my suite. So, can I just make a same as source QT for my client to play for his client? Also, DVD Studio Pro has a HD DVD option. Is that useless now? And, since I’m asking your advice, what is the most affordable way to color correct accurately- meaning what hardware/monitor do I need?
