Hey Kevin
I am running 10.8.5. I was afraid to update to Maverick because I heard there may be
problems if you use FCP7 which I still do for other clients. I will check with my Mac guy
about CUDA. Will updating my OS fix my problems and improve performance. I recently
purchased the Panasonic GH4 so I will be working w 4K footage. Thanks for your advice. -
Hey Tim
There apparently is a problem since my tech friend found documentation from Adobe. What about the
slow response and crashing of SpeedGrade? I don’t think my problems are system related…my Mac
is working fine otherwise including using AE. According to other posts I have seen, I am not the only one
having issues with 2014 ….I did not have these problems with CC. -
Hi Tim
The problem is there are so many issues. Here are a few. Speedgrade is very slow to respond to
commands. It sometimes crashes on startup. Premiere will crash randomly where the source or
program viewer screen goes white. I spent hours trying to trouble shoot an edit I needed to export which kept on crashing at different points of encoding. It turns out after speaking to a friend who is a Mac-Adobe tech expert that there is a problem using the GPU and using the fast color corrector in the latest 2014 update. When I set the renderer in Media Encoder to Software Only, the edit finally exported without a problem. This was a simple fix that only someone who knows what to look for could come up with.
Adobe should not be releasing software that has these kinds of problems….or at the least should be
notifying their customers of these issues. I am running a 2013 Macbook Pro w Retina Display OS X 10.8.5
16 GB ram 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7. -

August 1, 2014 at 5:08 pm in reply to: Red Giant – Magic Bullet Looks 2.5 update problemI had the same problem. Check your render settings in the encoder. Apparently there is a problem
with GPU acceleration on the latest CC update. Make sure you are set to software only. After countless hours of trying to figure out why I could not encode my edit a friend who is a Mac-Adobe tech expert
solved my problem. Thanks Adobe for your updates…complete with bugs. -

Thanks Andy apparently the recent 2014 update has caused a problem w GPU acceleration
Once I selected merc playback engine software only in the encoder everything worked… It would be nice if Adobe would send out a notice to pp 2014 users about this problem w cost me hours of frustration and wasted time -
Thanks Bill
Much appreciated

Hi Bill
I tried everything you did but the cam still does not wake up when it is supposed to. I appreciate
your help….I just can’t figure out if I am missing something. After you set the time do you press
shutter halfway or fully down….what happens to your screen when you do that. Thanks. -
HI Bill
Yes that does make sense…. but what is happening is the cam does not “wake up”
when it is time for the time-lapse to start. -
Don’t have a problem when set to now
My cam goes to sleep when I set a time
