i’ve used kata rain covers on all my cameras with great results. read recently they’ve been bought out / merged with manfrotto.

  • just looked at the specs for the 150 – only mentions 64gb card NOT 128gb.

i would think you be better off shooting 32 or 64gb and changing cards rather than risk the whole shoot on one card alone…

  • as an afterthought, are you sure the camera can handle 128gb cards? i know my ex1 maxes out at either 32gb or 64gb – I only ever shoot max 32gb anyway, and that’s enough to lose in one hit ;-(.

  • no experience with that camera, but I do remember reading somewhere there was a limit to the number of clips you could record on a card.

600 would strike me as using the camera as a stills camera, rather than video. i would suggest that you perhaps change your shooting style to ease your workflow. no criticism intended.

  • what are you looking at – monitor, tv. calibrated screen?

what card, if any are you using to get video output to a monitor?

contact sony direct, it’s unlikely any indie tech shop is going to carry a replacement part – be aware that you’re probably looking at having to buy the whole unit – around $2k>

alternatively see if it can be ‘glued’ or repaired some other way.

it’s generally hard enough matching different cameras but in this case you’ll have your work cut out i think; different sensors, glass, etc.,

i often shoot with an ex1 and whatever other camera comes to hand (i have a z5 too, which comes close, but not close enough – but that’s often out when i need it ;-(). i’ve been using my nex7, along with the neighbours jvc, and simply give the 2nd camera a completely different look, more often than not, b&w, camcorder overlay with tc running, and perhaps a bit of software induced ‘movement’/ gives the feeling of ‘immediacy’, doco style…

    good luck anyway..

  • ditto australia.

i think the myth of progressive is linked more to computers than broadcast. i know that for most ‘action footage’ i much prefer shooting interlaced than progressive. of course, when 50p is standard then my opinion might well change 😉
