Hmm I see. Thanks for the insight.

I think I’ll just dedicate the drive to Mac-only. How should I format it to get around the 4GB transfer limit?

Thanks for the advice David, I understand there’s no perfect easy solution…

What if I needed to use the drive on other machines that don’t have MacDrive then?

Wow that’s a lot of space. I don’t even have FCP 6. Also, I’d really like one that shoots in 25fps…

I think I’ll just hold off on AVCHD and stick to good ol’ tape for now…

Peter, it was the first one I tried… unfortunately it’s for FCP6 and above. I’m still on FCP5.1 …. but thanks..

Hmm.. thanks for the suggestion Andy.

I’m not using it for commercial purposes at all, so for now I’ll just try to get used to Motion within FCP. :S

Ok just to make sure again – I’m passing back the external HD but the renamed clips have been imported to my own scratch disk and NOT the external HD. Do the changes in reel names still take effect on the ext HD if I connect and import files from it on another computer?

Shane – thanks for your reply.

If I’m not passing over the project file, and just the external HD, do the renamed clip names, reels etc follow?

So if I want to keep the file name changes and reel info changes, I should also export/open a copy of the project on whatever computer I’m editing?

Sorry for the stupid questions. I guess I can make some simple deductions…

I don’t know. I always saw people use quicktime conversion instead of going to quicktime movie directly. Would you be able to tell me what’s the difference between converting to quicktime movie vs converting using quicktime conversion to the myriad of formats? Sorry for the ignorance.

I just tried exporting as quicktime movie. You are right, the dissolves and sped-up sequences look MUCH better! Thanks!!
