The value of a crew that owns their camera package is much greater than a crew that rents. They usually just know the gear better than those who rent and it’s more likely that they have more experience than those who rent. It seems that those who rent, never can seem to justify the purchase….wonder why. Everyone is always so worried about what the rental houses are going to rent the camera for. In my opinion, if I need a crew in another area, I prefer a crew that owns the gear. If I personally need a second or third camera, I’ll call a rental house. In my opinion, crew rates shouldn’t be set on what a rental house sets their rental rates.

I know what you are saying…. I just meant that the Varicam will allow you to shoot in many varibable frame rates and the HDX900 doesn’t have that capability.

Jeff,
Thanks for your response. Renting a camera, rather than using the camera you ordered is never much fun, so you can certainly see my interest in delivery.DP/CamMate Crane owner/Operator

I wish there was an end to “I heard this or that” and have someone from Panasonic address this issue. I’ve heard more third party conversations about delivery than I care to remember.
PANASONIC!!!! YOU OUT THERE????
How about a rep from PANASONIC respond.

I’m not sitting in my bedroom twittling my thumbs, I’m running a business, planning production with larger agencies and the camera was promised over a month ago. I’m not anxious just for the fact of playing with it, we have work to do.

It would be nice if someone from Panasonic would give some sort of reasonable time frame. Silence is not helpful.

Well I must not be one of the lucky ones. I was told that there would be two shipments in the month of August. I haven’t seen squat. Does anyone from Panasonic actually read this board??? Seems like everything gets quiet when delivery dates come up. What’s the deal??? Can anyone give me some sort of date? I’ve been told that I would have my camera in a week….for over a month.
