Thanks!
Any recommendation for a free flash encoder?
I see adobe’s is only 49… maybe that’s the best way to go

I did a test to begin to learn workflow (EX 1 and FCP)…
I wanted to see what HQ 24P footage would look like.
When I imported video from EX1 using the XDCAM transfer tool into a test project and placed the shots on a timeline to view the quality of the HD imagery, playback was ‘iffy.’ A bit jerky, jaggy edges. Is this right…
I need to decide upfront if the final product is SD or HD before I import clips… If SD, use the Clip browser to transcode HD to SD. After transcoding clips, import them into the project and work on it.Or…If the final product is HD, used XDCAM transfer tool to import into the project. Also, it looks like I need to figure out project settings (for the particular kind of HD quality I’ve shot) so that video playback of clips on the timeline shows the excellence I expect – I don’t know the term, properly “aligned for playback and editing”.
Perhaps there’s a website that can walk me through these early stages.
On the other hand…Having no problems importing and editing SD on FCP(DVCAM)!
thanks!

Boy, Matt, that would be great! I’m still waiting for the cd so that I can try it out…

Can you change the speed of a video clip by only 10-20 frames?

Hi Ryan – Thanks for the tip. The shoot was a single camera shoot (done as a favor for some friends) with just a bit of cutaway material. They did not sing to a recorded track, but played a live concert for a non-commercial radio station fund raiser. Working alone and rushed (excuses), I didnt have time to feed their board audio into my camcorder. Anyway, I will definitely follow your suggestions – look for where the video loses sync, mark spikes and use those to cut the video and re-establish sync where it drifts off. I speculated or wondered if workiing with FCP, I could do the following: establish sync at the beginning, look at how many frames it drifted off by the end, and “tell” FCP to make the cd audio have a length that took into account that difference – if that makes sense.

Havent seen the Vortex Media double DVD workshop on the EX1… think I will take a chance on the red rock micro support system. got my fingers crossed.

Thanks for info Steve. I’ll check out your suggestion. The only other one I found was the VSB1 Video Camera Shoulder Brace. Maybe it’s fine but it looks awkward.

Thanks, Tom, for the advice. Looks like resolution needs to be at least 300 for DVCAM in FCP motion.
