  • Adam,
I haven’t formatted anything as I moved the media to an external drive connected via firewire and it proved to work.
Formatting would have been my next move, though.
All the other projects on the drive that my problematic project was on all work correctly.

    Sorry mate.

  • I found that if I opened the Project Browser and highlighted the project, went to the FILE menu and chose MOVE – moving the project and all reference events to a new drive, cured the issue I was experiencing.

  • Adam,

I’ve just come across that same ‘charming’ issue, this morning. I’ve deleted the clips; imported them again and gone through all sorts of gymnastics but I can’t seem to get mine running as I expect it should. I’m taking the day off and going out to the woods to dig up grubs and pine seeds for this evening’s meal!

    Chi-Ho,
I think it’s fair to say that ‘Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” and for some that means that skimming is the best thing since sliced bread. For others, “JKL” will be the first option and for others, a fusion or hybrid of the two will do just nicely.

I believe that Skimming is a feature and one that can be very useful and also has its place. I don’t believe that the JKL feature has been deprecated. FCPX is, well, relatively, new and as such, it will introduce new concepts and new features.

But I’ll read with fascination what others have to say on the matter.

    Grant,

I use something very simplistic: https://www.officetime.net but there are solutions out there that provide far broader and deeper granularity. Whatever the solution, I believe a lot of it will depend on the individual and circumstances.

I second you on that Andy – when it comes to “To do” markers. Possibly even assign colours to them too – although that might be going a little too far!

  • Bob,
I’ve wondered about the timeline tagging for some time but have been able to “get over” it using the “Show/Hide Timeline index”.

Inside of here I have labelled, in the notes section just what it is or what I want. That way, when I need to apply the ole ‘attributes’ – gosh, sorry- “Effects” I can literally search through the notes section to the relative search term and simply Cmd+V and then Cmd+Shift+V the attributes I want: OR simply use it as a search/ tagging ability, in a very loose sense of the term.

As for the Roles issue, well… I’m sure that someone can assist.

    Have a good one,

    Bill,

Tried that too and it wasn’t checked. I’m plumbing for a combo of Ghost in the machine and user error. My Motion project was saved and my FCPX project is solid; it was just having to restart, I guess.

Hey, it’s software at the end of the day – trying to cheer myself up.

So I ran Disk Utility – clear as a bell.
Even went so far as to start in safe mode and everything was A-OK.
Tried and ran Disk Warrior on the drives – same result
Then thought, I’ll go one step higher – “Recovery Disk”! Set Disk Utility on the job from that partition and the results were conclusive: nothing wrong with your drives.

So I’m restarting and heading out into the wild blue digital wonder to see if it was just a hiccup not an implosion.

Many thanks for the suggestions. I’m foxed for sure.

    Regards,

    Lawrence

  • Tom,

Worked a treat. Many thanks; now where is that generator?
