I was working with FCPX 10.0.6 and Motion all day today and suddenly when I finally had a new generator saved and wanted to preview it in FCPX, the blessed lot crashed.
Force Quit Applications stated that both FCPX AND Finder were not responding and so I proceeded to “Force Quit” them both.
Went outside while ML sorted it self out and after having a meander, walked back in to open FCPX again and all I got was the dialogue below with a very ‘poor’ looking FCPX in the background.

“James Mason” is my server name that is connected via Firewire and has NEVER caused me or FCPX any problems, whatsoever, in the past.
“No1ne” is the name of my MacPro- this is rather like airing your laundry in public!

However, whenever I clicked on “OK” – which is all one can do in this situation, I found that it reappeared ad infinitum-esque. (I got tired, rapidly of it and did a restart and reset the PRAM for good measure. Why? Well because I’m kinda old (my children tell me so) and it always seemed to do something!!!)
On restarting, I was told that my machine had encountered a problem and would try and open the apps that I previously had running or I was free to click “Cancel” and take a Devil-may-care attitude. I chose the latter, of course!

    Image included.

Anyone please? Have you also experienced this when running FCPX and Motion for extended periods of time? Why would it ask about the location?

Try rebooting. Should run disk repair routines like fscking and Dusk Warrior.

    All the best,

    Tom

    Tom,

Worked a treat. Many thanks; now where is that generator?
