The codec of all the clips is HDV 720p30 quicktime.
So do you suggest I find another hard drive that is firewire?? Is that the source of the problem (that it’s USB?)

    Thank you, Mike.
Also, what’s the difference between using Compressor and just exporting directly (with H.264 codec) from FCP? It takes more time to export as a self-contained file from FCP and then encode in COmpressor than it is to just export it once and be it final. Is compressor used generally if you want multiple formats?

Excuse me, I got mixed-up. I have exported it as 720X486 and now I want to burn it in iDVD, but the preview box in iDVD shows black bars at the top andbottom of the box so it doesnt seem to be fittinf for iDVD. How do I burn to DVD so it retains dimensions, size and professional quality for TV and computer viewing?

I want to put it on DVD, to watch on computers and Television.
The original footage is 640X480 so when I export it into iDVD, there are black bars. How do I burn it to DVD so it retains its size?

  • So would somebody be able to tell me how much I could charge for my Avid software?

Where do I post the ad on this site?

  • Thanks for your input but to clarify things, what I have and want to sell is Avid Media Composer 2.8. It’s just the dongle, Avid Basic Guide book (for media composer and Symphony Nitris) and the keypad stickers). Would anyone be able to give me an estimate? And what are you chances it would sell since there’s already a new version out?
Someone mentioned renting it. I don’t know anyone who rents editing software.

    thanks,
    Laura
