The problem has been solved !!! I just went through the process all over again for the 3rd time and everything is working. The only thing different this time was I unplugged the firewire drive and the deck while I went thought the process.

I want to thank everyone for their help.

Yep, I’ve trashed the prefs, and there’s one more thing to add. Just for the heck of it I opened iMovie and you guess it there was the video and audio. I’ve been trying to rule out everything I can. I’m going to try the FCP Rescue. I’ll let you know what happens.

    Thanks for you help

    Don –
I have tried the camera too and I get the same result. I can control the camera but can’t capture video or audio. In capture mode I can set in and out points and the camera and deck will search, pause and roll but will not capture.

I have tried deleting the QuickTime receipts files and that didn’t fix the problem.
