Way to use a old video clip to get a couple of left-wing, anti-Christian hate-speak jabs in there Bill. Real class.

The V.P. I speak of moved to another high level project at Sony. A new Project Manager was brought in but he didn’t last long – new team is responsible for 11 but I don’t know who does what anymore…

March 26, 2012 at 6:35 pm in reply to: on the PPro product manager popping his head around the door to give a heads up.Well I’m glad Adobe is paying attention and seizing this moment that has been handed to the NLE industry on a silver platter by Apple. All I ever wanted from PPro was stability, and checking out the Conan video and getting a peek at CS6 things are looking up indeed. I love the slider for the thumbnails a la Bridge in the bins – huge for me since Avid has been the only one to get thumbnails right up to this point.
Looking forward to NAB…

The problem is the person in charge in the 8 and earlier days is no longer on the Vegas team 🙁

So are you saying offline low rez and then online later? Or just work at 1/4 rez and then finish in 4k? I prefer the latter – I have no prob working in 1/4 rez because as you say it’s still HD. I’d like to avoid the whole offline/proxy mess if I can – that would be the reason to go Adobe/nVidia for me.
As far as GeForce vs. Quadro – there is no difference at all in the 2D world. CUDA cores are CUDA cores regardless of the card they are on. Just read the FAQ for Tesla for apps like 3DSMAX – it’s all about the cores. Of course memory can be a big thing and you do get more memory on the higher end cards like the 6000 and the Tesla but at a huge price bump. As far as raw power, a GTX 680 should be stronger in PPro than anything else out at the present.

No you’re right. Sure there’s always a few fanboys who never have or acknowledge any issues. 11 has been the worst version ever of Vegas, not only for the bugs and constant crashes but for the changed features that didn’t need changing. There are features I counted on every day like audio busses being with the Master and Preview faders that were moved to the mixing console which I rarely used. This was not asked for, it was a change someone made internally and got the green light without user input.
I see it like a sports team, you bring in a new coach and his team hoping things get better, but when it doesn’t work, you fire them and move on. Sony needs to seriously consider getting more/new help for the Vegas team. I’ve been a Vegas fan and user for over a decade now but Premiere Pro is looking better and better as my go to NLE on my Windows machine. Time is running out Sony…
