Well I guess this shows Apple is kind of still dabbling in the “pro” NLE market. This is obviously an NAB update created to make certain they have a solid showing in the various booths that will have FCPX stations…

Everyone on the Cow knows – if you want to introduce/update/evangelize for any NLE other than FCPX, this is yer forum 😉

Mines still got 25 min to go for download… This update makes sense though to make a good showing in the various booths next week like AJA, BMD etc. Crappy broadcast monitoring during NAB would not be good…

Well you can get a 17″ PC laptop with i7, 8GB ram, Blu-ray burner etc etc for under $1500 – that’s quite a bit cheaper than a 17″ MacBook Pro. Not saying it’s nicer, just a lot of options out there. Of course the PC won’t FCPX so that totally sucks.

They don’t even mention “Mac” in the announcement. Maybe that is part of the big news?

Today is cool 🙂 But I do think it would be smart to release it this week. Since Apple no longer has an official presence at trade shows, they may get lost in the hoopla if they wait until the weekend or during the NAB show when Autodesk, Adobe, Avid etc etc are gonna be fighting for the headlines. They could actually steal everyones thunder if they do something significant this week…

Hah… I know one HIGH-END facility in L.A. that is switching their MC 6 machines back to 5.5. MC6 is so buggy and unreliable they can’t use it. This is an uber inside alpha/beta 20 year Avid user facility… grass isn’t always greener…
