  • Yeah I do a lot of animation editing and sound design as I cut so it’s always a hassle – it was the one single thing I was hoping would improve in 6 🙁

  • I also started on my NLE adventure with Avid, but prefer FCP legacy as well. Turning tracks on and off just to hear some audio or having to build a transition in the slug above a cut just isn’t fun for me…

  • Adobe site has a PPro demo cutting Red via MacBook Air and Thunderbolt expansion w/Red Rocket.

  • Yes but it’s still Avid. Not exactly fun to cut on, especially if you started on another NLE…

  • Check the Apple Refurb Store – there’s always quite a selection of Mac Pro’s. Now down to just two basic models… somethings up.

  • This is a strange one… cheaper to cross-grade to Symphony the Media Composer? What does Avid have up their sleeves this NAB? Of course could be desperation move to save the company 🙂

Very cool, was wondering when or IF this section of the FCP site would come back. Good news obviously and another strategic pre-NAB move by Apple…. somethings up…

You really need to invest in an approved nVidia to see the true power of the program – night and day better. Without it you won’t see too much difference than FCP7 except that you can mix and match more codecs without rendering.

Actually those Envy laptops are pretty nice – at first glance they look exactly like a MacBook Pro! But graphics cards are still the weakness in most Mac or PC laptops unless you opt for the HP workstation models which have Quadro cards – but yikes they are pricey…

Yeah and hopefully lower the price – $199?
