September 18, 2013 at 12:49 pm in reply to: MultiGrouping Creates “Duplicate” Groups

    Nick,

It sounds like you are getting duplicate groups due to your AUX TC and potentially duplicated subclips. Avid gets wonky when the AUX TC isn’t exactly the same for the subclips that are supposed to be in a group. Additionally, accidentally subclipping the same clip twice will wreck havoc on your multigroup.

By any chance, would you care to share the bin with me and I can take a look? It doesn’t matter that the clips are offline because I can usually suss out what is going on. I hope I can help because I love multigrouping!

    John,

Place the position indicator over the rolling title in your sequence and make sure that video track is enabled. Go into Effect Mode and then click “Edit Title” once the Effect Editor opens. The Title Tool will open and you can edit the title.

You can also edit a title but holding down CTRL/CMD while double clicking on the title in the bin. I prefer editing a title from the timeline so my timings aren’t messed up.

    Good Luck!

This may not be the best way but I highlight the clips and press delete. The dialog window that comes up tells you the number of sequences, master and subclips and other stuff in the bin.

Just make sure you don’t delete them!

I humbly throw my book into the pile, The Avid Assistant Editor’s Handbook. It has step by step instructions for a number of Avid tasks and you can download a free chapter on the book’s website to take a peek at the book’s format.

I’m not using Media Composer 6 so this is a shot in the dark but do you have “Batch Import High Resolution video” selected on the XDCAM tab of the import window? That may be why it wants you to select each one instead of doing it automatically.

    Good luck!

February 2, 2012 at 9:34 pm in reply to: Tapeless Project, EDL Issue

When working with tapeless, I usually add a tape name using the Modify command so that it will show up in an EDL along with everything else.

So, select all of the clips associated with one folder, go to the Modify menu, and choose Set Source to assign those clips a tape name.
