Thats funny you said that, its one of the first things I was told about working in this industry, Good, Cheap & Fast. but I’m not freelancing so I can’t say that with these guys, they just want it now. I may be doing it in keynote at this point in order to show off the work fast enough at a good pace. Small parts of it I’m doing nice pans and zooms in AE. Its kills me to do canned effects but sometimes thats what happens when you want it fast and cheap.

snapz pro can live capture, I do it all the time, for internal videos, it creates large files though. It also takes a long time.

But Ref files shouldn’t take 15-20mins to make. Thats my problem. It should take a min at most right? Nothing else is running but FCP.

I can tell you right now, its because you had 6.5 QT on one system that had a mpeg2 plugin put on it, then it was updated, that why you can use it, and its way better then compressor, my compressor takes 4x-5x longer to render then that plugin, I dont understand why that guy said make a REF file first, then whats the point of Final cut letting you send the file right in compressor? The quicktime plugin is faster I feel even if its the same as compressor, I see a differnce in speed. You can’t add the plugin in 7, and I’m trying to down grade my QT 7 to 6 so I can use it on a newer machine.

I want to know this as well, the only way I fixed it was to change the setting to fields NONE, but this makes the DV videos unrendered. Does anyone have any ideas of how to keep text intact in FCP5 or when I bring in jpeg files.

That sounds about right westcoast, I dont agree about a 10 hour FCP student getting 34k though, people seem cheap these days, A decent reel and refernce seems to get 35-40k which I wish was better.

Thank you for the reply, I’ll switch it, but I dont see a differnce on screen so does that mean with the setting(FCP5) on high I will see it on the final render? Also are there any setting I need to change to take advange of the quad speed G5 I’m using? I understand I need a monitor to find the flaws in the video, but my company is new to in-house broadcasting and has not given me one yet, I hope to have one soon but in the mean time I have to burn DVDs for them and little problems come up.

    Again thanks for the help.
