Are you in reference to the text that locks to the people as the car goes by?
I’ve not personally done this so I can only tell you how I would go about it. I would start by tracking the individual and then use that info to move your text. Then, convert your text layer to 3D and rotate it in 3D space to match the movement of the shot.
There are many tutorials on tracking in the COW library. It make take some time and tweaking, but its a fairly simple effect.
Hope this helps!

I haven’t used it much and I don’t know if it will do what you are wanting, but Synthetic Aperture’s Color Finesse plug-in is pretty powerful.

Hope that helps!

I upgraded two, 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo’s a few months back to Leoppard.
I installed FCP 5.1.4 but had few a issues with Compressor. I searched the COW and Apple support site to find the solution to those problems. Once I got those straightened out, the machines run smooth.I recently wrapped up a 90 minute documentary and I used Compressor and DVD SP4 for final authoring. All worked as expected.
I’m looking forward to FCS 2.0. Just can’t afford it right now.
Hope this helps!

February 2, 2008 at 4:32 pm in reply to: Has anyone ever had to unistall FCP to fix a problem? The first thing that jumps out at me is your source footage. You’re trying to put a square (640×480) into a rectangle (720×480.) I’m not familiar with the software that you used to rip your video, but I can tell you that in this scenario you will always have to render. Try ripping your footage again using 720×480 or use quicktime pro to export your 640×480 to 720×480.
Just to be clear DV, NTSC is 720×480.
Hope this helps!

I’m actually working on an HDV 1080/24p documentary. I recently had to make a DVD of the first 5 scenes to be sent to the composer.
I took my HD timelines and nested them into an SD timeline. I rendered that, then exported it to Compressor. It took more time that I would like… about 30min’s start to finish for 8 min’s of footage, but the resulting DVD looks good.
I think that having a single QuickTime file helps when working with compressor. I have no science to back that up, it just seems to work for me.
Hope this helps, postman

Maybe I’m missing something… until you can afford the equipment, why not author a DVD and avoid the whole FireWire issue?
Do you have any DVD authoring software?
Typical work flow…. FCP to Compressor to DVD Studio Pro… It might take a little longer than just a straight dub to DVD, but it could be cheaper than trying to figure out your FireWire issue.
Just a suggestion.

As far as networking the the two platforms….
Our IT guy is a Unix/Linux freak. He went way under the hood (and way over my head) to share two of my drives on our otherwise all PC network. All I know is that he used the ‘Terminal’ and edited a system config file. It took him all of 5 minutes to set it up. I couldn’t even begin to try and explain it.I mention this to say that if you know a GOOD ‘IT’ guy or someone who knows Unix/Linus
you can probably get them to set it up for a pizza and a coke/beer.I’ve never used it myself, but I’ve read that PC MAC Lan will also do the trick.

According to the information the client has given to my employer, the venues would either be school cafeterias or gymnasiums. Neither of which is designed with acoustics in mind.
