I just find it odd that the .dv file stays in perfect sync while any type of quicktime conversion other than a rewrap causes the drift to the point of it being unacceptable after a two hour capture.

saving as in streamclip just basically changes the extension. The audio is still DV audio which needs to be rendered.

I believe this may be my issue:

This FAQ https://www.adamwilt.com/DV-FAQ-tech.html states that consumer DV cameras produce unlocked audio and that any NLE that treats the audio and video as separate tracks (such as QuickTime based products) needs to understand how to re-clock the audio. Apparently FCP does this and it appears that iMovie 09 does not. Can anyone confirm if Final Cut Express 4.0 re-clocks the audio to keep the audio and video in sync?

Are there any programs that reclock audio via batch?

I’ve tried 32kHZ out of streamclip with the same results. 🙁

Has anyone had any success in writing a script to put the gregorian date in a window burn?

Can I pay to have a black background for burn-ins added as a custom feature? Is this at all possible?

    Thx

I was able to do this in the Verbatim Logger.

    1. I did the normal scene detection with the Cat. DV down convert of the HDV file.

    2. Opened the DV capture up in the Verbatim Logger. and Copied the scene information to the clipboard.

    3. Opened up the HDV capture and paste special into the scene window on the right.

    4. The marks matched up!

****word of caution..i’ve been using clipwrap to rewrap the m2t files to QT there is a -3 frame timecode difference for some reason. You can adjust this in CatDV with a TC offset and then add timecode track to QT.

*****the marks can look off in the viewer of CatDV…but when you open them in FCP they are OK.
