December 9, 2014 at 3:50 pm in reply to: vegas 11: sony avc/mvc rendering option missing; maincocncept does not workactually I had the same problem in windows 7 on my desktop computer. I sort of solved it by
1. install it in my windows 7 laptop
2. copy the wjhole installation directory to my desktop
3. fire up the vegas from the copied bin directoryand then I will be able to reliably get at the sony avc in my desktop.
since i “upgraded” to windows 8.1 in my desktop I have nto tried my laptop trick
thanx

for the first time I was able to make this work.
now with my sony avc/mvc nowhere to be found this is a life saver. This kind of software problem has no excuse. A so called video editing software should work out pf the box for rendering. It is down right shameful sony never fixed this problem

June 30, 2012 at 1:19 pm in reply to: vegas pro 11 64 – render as missing sony avcd and sony mx4I did not install the codec packs. The sony render dll are in the plug ins folder.
I did an interesting experiment. I copied the installation folder from my laptop (which is also windows 7 64 bit) to my desk top (laptop_folder). I did not see any obvious differences between the contents of the laptop_folder and the reference installation folder. (ref_folder) The files and file dates are same.
Now when fire up the pro from laptop_folder it consistently shows the missing plug ins.
But the pro in my reference installation folder shows an interesting behavior now according to the following sequence
1. fire up pro from laptop_folder – shows sony video plugins
2. fire up pro from ref_folder – shows sony plug in
3. repeat 2 – now the plugins are missingThis is consistent and reproducible behavior

my 64 bit vegas crashes immediately if I select avi rendering

I have had success ffdshow video encoder. If you have installed ffdshow it will be available under video for windows
But make sure you select configure and set the coder for quality factor of 100 (do not bother with the bit rate setting).
But your input source has to be progressive video

thanx:
I was doing some more experimentation.
Now when I take the original clip and run just ffmpeg in command line I get the same or even more severe ghosting.
But in the command line if i put -deinterlace switch I get rock solid video.
so the procedure I have successfully implemented is the following
1. run ffmpeg in command line and convert the original mp4 to get a deinterlaced mp4 with the same quality. You have to make sure the deinterlace option is the FIRST option in the command
2. use the output from 1 as the source for vegas
this procedure works.
I wonder why newer equipment put out interlaced video in the first place

yes, dummy me it was a pilot error. i had inadvertantly set the fx bypass.

November 15, 2006 at 11:17 am in reply to: can vegas 7 capture hdv footage from sony hdr -hc3thanx guys.
I have another related question. i.e the hd ouput from the dv hdhc3 is interlaced and not progressive, am I right?
I am used to using the standard dv from jvc dv2000 and it has a progressive output straight from the camera.
if it is interlaced , is there anyway I can get deinterlaced progressive frames on the time line?
thanx
