rendering vegas video for large screen
Posted by Susan Stern on May 19, 2010 at 6:44 pmPlease tell me the rendering settings and what format I need to use to save my motion-packed video in sony vegas 9.
The video is to be displayed on a large screen in an auditorium. So I want the photo quality to remain high.
Thank you,

May 19, 2010 at 8:10 pmI have had success ffdshow video encoder. If you have installed ffdshow it will be available under video for windows
But make sure you select configure and set the coder for quality factor of 100 (do not bother with the bit rate setting).
But your input source has to be progressive video

The answer depends on three things:
(1) What is the source of your video (SD or HD)?
(2) What you will use the play the video (PC or DVD Player)?
(3) What the maximum resolution of the projector? If you are using a DVD player, you are limited to DVD resolution, but if you want to play it from your laptop, I would use the Sony AVC render type with the Internet 4:3 SD 30p or Internet 16:9 HD 30p template depending on the source.

May 20, 2010 at 2:04 pmHi John. I am no pro at settings…..so please explain in detail. Certainly others would benefit, too. Thank you….
Questions:(1) What is the source of your video (SD or HD)? <li>Not sure? It’s a compilation of photos, but shall include a couple of video soundbites….Please advise how to determine source….
(2) What you will use the play the video (PC or DVD Player)? Shall be played from a PC
(3) What the maximum resolution of the projector? Not sure…..how to determine. It’s one of those automatic roll down projectors….So we should guess, because I doubt the source/owner of it would know.
If you are using a DVD player, you are limited to DVD resolution, but if you want to play it from your laptop, I would use the Sony AVC render type with the Internet 4:3 SD 30p or Internet 16:9 HD 30p template depending on the source.
Again John….I appreciate your help here. I seek your professional expertise…on every aspect of the rendering issue…..
1) Save as what type?
2) What template?
3) Under Video….mode, image size, seconds per keyframe
4) Under Audio….mode, format & attributes
5) Bitrate….tempalte, descriptionThank you,
