I’m going to second what Dave said. Lynda.com is the place to go for AE training. It’s actually where I first learned how to use Duik. they have a really great (7 hour long) course that walks you through every function of it.
I’ve been running into an issue where my media shows up as pending and despite everything being loaded never leaves that pending status. A system reboot is the solution I’ve found.
Fair point, but the reason I do it on an adjustment layer is because I need the flare to be over multiple layers. It is a chroma keyed subject with a background and a logo. While I know I could nest all of the layers and add the flare after the fact I’ve just been using adjustment layers. It’s always worked and now it doesn’t.
Thanks for the input. It all make sense now. It turns out most of my problem was that I haven’t done anything with shapes in AE for a long time and was forgetting a few steps.
I figured out if I add it from the toolbar I can manipulate it in the drop down, however I am not seeing the option to animate the pat, or draw it, like you could in previous versions.
I haven’t found a solution. I’ve reinstalled the software and updated to cc2015 and still have the same issue. I’ve also tried it on a second machine and run into the same problem.
