Faster experience is what I wanted. Some grades will be attended by clients. Nothing kills the vibe more than waiting around for renders.
The Quadro cards are per the Black Magic specification. Plus I have room for one more in the Cubix box (if the Rocket card is not required for the session.) I purchased the Quadro’s online…. very, very good price. Less than half the local cost.
I’ve worked in the big post houses over the years and know their way of doing things. It’s nice but comes at a price… I’m hoping to use that knowledge and provide a solution for a market they just can’t operate in. Good operators will be the cornerstone of the enterprise and paid accordingly. The gear will be done so as not to get in their way and provide for a smooth session.

Didn’t I say to go to motu and check your driver?
But you still got your answer right? It is unsupported Do I need to speak more sloooowwwwllllllyyyy for youuuuuu?
-
Alex, did you not read my answer to your first question?
The MOTU 828 is NOT supported by AVID for ANYTHING related to Media Composer.
-
Is it unsupported?…. um, yes. It’s an audio only interface.
Perhaps read the system requirements before subjecting yourself to easily avoidable technical problems?

From the website…
https://www.red.com/store/epic/product/epic-m
“*We are now accepting inquiries regarding purchasing EPIC-M packages. The EPIC-M is a hand-assembled, non-production run camera so quantities available at any given time are limited. This package is intended for users who can provide testing and constructive feedback directly to RED.”
-
The Epics going around are hand built M’s, not production line X’s. Sold with the condition that you help RED test things, give feedback etc.
Many features are not enabled or are being enabled as they go…. Jim and co. have said this many, many times. My point is it would be hard for a 3rd party to offer full support in their product when they do not have a finished build. Look around the reduser forums, the info is there.
-
Given that final specs for the Epic are still to be locked in by RED, I’d say it won’t be supported until that is done… kinda no point just yet.

I’m in the process of setting up my Resolve on Mac.
I have purchased 2 x Quadro 4000 cards and a Cubix 4 slot expander. The 4000s will live in the expander with the Red Rocket. Slot 4 is the BM video card as I need to keep my Avid DX and HBA card inside the mac. I think it certainly can’t hurt to have the extra GPU grunt.

March 31, 2011 at 10:33 am in reply to: What are the REAL requirements for Resolve on a Mac?Here’s what I’m doing right now…
I already have an 8 core Mac Pro with 12gb of RAM. It’s my Avid DX machine. Attached to it is a 16tb Maxx Digital Array (Thanks Ron… you rock!)… so I have the machine and the storage and my 20 inch SOny HD CRT, as well as BM Ultrascope. I’m going to make it a dual boot system… Avid/Resolve.
I bought 2 x Quadro 4000 cards off ebay, new, for $1,500.
I’m about to order the Black Magic card and Resolve license…. another $2,100.
I’ll order a RED Rocket too as my clients shoot RED a fair bit… $4,000.
I will need the Cubix PCIe extender.. $3,000 (I think)
Tangent Wave… $1,500.
$12k (aud) all up but I already have a lot of the hardware to get started.
To be honest, I’m really looking forward to it… expanding my skill set and service range to my clients. Another arrow in the quiver, so to speak.

Gotcha.
Thanks. 🙂
