    Hi,

    as I under stand it:
    You work always full range in Resolve because that is the workspace and this is always shown in its internal scopes.
    Render to legal values for video or monitoring legal values for video does not mean to clip anything but transfering bit-values from 0-1023 to 64-940. That means ‘real black'(and white) is now represented by an other bit-value.
    For some reasons 64-940 is the norm for broadcast video, thats all 🙂
    Seeming disadvantage is that you loose 147 steps from black to white but on the other hand it’s well confirmed that the human eye can’t perceive more than 300 (or something) steps from a scale.
    So the important thing is only to label and determine right and to deliver clients the expected range.

    Did you use the ‘lut-reference-file’? Sorry but it’s not obvious to me.

    I have no experience with f65 files. Is your lut working as expected on other files (e.g. prores)?

    No, it’s not exactly that ticket. ‘Only’ how to deal with luts.
    But if you could calibrate your monitor to the propper gamma a simple node on track will solve it too.

    110% doesn’t exist in full scale!

    Full scale means bit-levels from 0-1023 (255 in 8bit) and 1023 (255) is 100%.
    If you want to see anything above 100% from a scaled video then you could use a input-lut that transcode source full to leagal. If you switch your monitoring to full scale, resolve will show it on output via decklink.

    But I don’t recommend that!

    Resolve expand any video (assuming it’s legal scaled) to full scale. So anything above 100% can’t displayed on the intern scopes (because it’s 10bit). But the real workspace exeeds 10 bit and nothing is cliped.

    pc-displays are mostly sRGB. This standard was defined by microsoft and HP and was affirmed by many others.

    You could solve the gamma-issue with a 1d-lut. How to is well described in the resolve manual.

    If you did the grading in a dark enviorement with gamma 2.2, then your midtones will appear to dark with gamma 2.6 in a dark ambiance (cinema).

    Can’t see a problem there 🙂
    Baselight e.g. has only 3 ball too but allow easy mapping to desired functions on demand and the other ones to the knobs (rgb). Works great.
